white subway tile - where did you buy yours??
Comments (17)Missleah, I just went through the same thing. Check the thread titled "for those of you with white cabinets and white subway tiles..." I was in despair because I held up a (very) white subway tile we had used to tile the bathrooms next to our white-until-you-see-it-against-something-really-white cabinet door sample. It looked terrible. Little did I know there were many options out there. Luckily a lot of people on this forum came to the rescue with suggestions of tile companies with different shades of white. So far, I have gotten samples of Anchor Bay and Subway Ceramics; both have off-white tiles that look great with our cabinet. I also discovered that our local tile shop carries Irongate (Meredith) tiles; they have a crackle that goes well with our cabinets and some nice decoratives for a backsplash. Samples are definitely the way to go....See MoreDid you choose Matte or Shiny White Subway Tiles
Comments (5)Anyone have any thoughts on using shiny white or bisque subway tiles with silestone quartz in the stellar rose. My family thinks it will be too stark against the pattern of the counter which has a deep rose, oatmeal and recycled glass which appears silver. I say anything other than shiny white or bisque will clash. I would use kahlua cream grout to unify the counter and tile.Any thoughts would help....See MoreWhat would you do with this subway tiled wall?
Comments (19)I'm assuming that you want to do something above the tile rather than interfering with the tile in any way. If you want something that's a little bit 3-D (as opposed to framed art displayed flat on the wall) it looks to me like your shelves would be high enough to be out of the way so you could go with the framed pics propped on the display shelf using your white shelf/oak frame combo. Sounds like it would look nice. I think they rout (is that the right word) a channel in those types of display shelves to keep the base of the frames from sliding forward. (I like the black stools :)...See MoreSubway Tile - What grout size and did you go Epoxy ?
Comments (30)Chef: I like the darker one in the bottom picture. Splinky: Our tile was made by Subway Ceramics. They do not sell directly to the public, but they will sell directly to a decorator. Our decorator handled the order, but did not add a surcharge. We paid just over $15/sf. They will also send a decorator a set of tile samples to match color. I believe that we matched the best of 4 different whites, which was a perfect match. They also sell through a small number of retailers. Below is a link to a blog by a DIY'er who tiled a bathroom with SC tiles. I learned a lot from it! (Even my tile-setter, who was very good, had never thought of shuffling the tiles among the boxes.) As I said in an earlier post in this topic, my grout was Tec, and the color was Dove Gray. Here is a link that might be useful: The Petch House Blog...See Moreartemis78
