I agree a lot of the songs sounded off, Kelli Pickler and Taylor Swift come to mind. DH thought the sound engineer (is that what they are called?) messed up something because it sounded like their mikes were barely on (we missed the 1st half of the show, so maybe there were more issues?). I'm still amazed Taylor Swift is the "star" she is...I had friends in high school choir with better voices (but they didn't look like her). She's cute and all, but there are so many girls with better voices. I loved the shorter haircut on the woman from Sugarland (Jennifer Nettles). I wish I was blond...those tossled styles just don't look the same on non-highlighted dark hair.

There's nothing wrong with being in a relationship with someone who is outside of your age range (generation, decade(s), etc) - what's good for the goose is good for the gander - old men dating women younger than their own daughters or even granddaughters happens all the time without much or any big 'to do' made over it. Sure, the young woman might be considered a gold-digger and made out to be some kind of hussy - but even our entertainment reinforces that older men don't have to worry about no longer being too old to be the 'leading man' with an endless series of young women in the 18-24 year old age range as the 'romantic interest'. A woman with a much younger man is subjected to whispers and even open ridicule while others actively try to pressure the man into finding another woman to be with - often combined with the 'excuse' that the older woman won't be able to have a family with him and besides, after a certain age it's like people expect women to resign themselves to babysitting the grandchildren and invisibility. But it is refreshing to see that there are people out there pursuing relationships with others that break the stereotypical and expected, more love in the world can never be a bad thing. People building new social relationships, reconnecting with others face to face, even when it's not something romantic these things are GOOD. Society today is more connected than ever but the devices and systems through which this increasing connection is made are taking real world interactions and putting those into the proverbial wood-chipper.

I keep coming back to this and laughing like the first time I saw it. Just something which really tickled me. OK...I'm a California squirrel. Sorry if this is a duplicate, from the Beach Boys "I really wish you all could be California squirrels"

why is she carrying flowers? I don't know what their ceremony was, but in a Jewish wedding, both parents walk both the bride and groom down the aisle. So both MOB and MOG have flowers. I never understood only the dad getting to walk the bride down the aisle. Both my parents walked me down the aisle, in both my weddings ;-), and mom had flowers. I walked my daughter down the aisle with her dad, and carried a small bouquet. Her dad and I are both remarried. My hubby and my ex's wife walked down the aisle together. And his wife also had a bouquet. All parents, and step parents, were involved in the ceremony. --- Along the same lines, I don't see having the mothers coordinate with the wedding party colors as telling guests what to wear. Again, parents are part of the ceremony, and of course in lots of pictures. They should match or at least not clash with the colors of the wedding if there are colors of the wedding. I certainly would not expect to tell guests who are not part of the ceremony what color to wear. I don't even understand the bride being offended if someone wears white. Why would I care if a guest was wearing white?
