Please show me your hand scraped wood floors.
Comments (9)Hello, I have a 5" plank prefinished white oak from the Garrison collection. We had it installed in our dining room, kitchen, nook and family room last Sept. I just love it! Will probably do 2 bedrooms in it this summer. Most of my house is oak except my new kitchen is Cherrywood (not real red) and the floor goes well with it also. I bought the flooring off of eBay for $3.42 sf + tax and delivery. My installer said he could get it for the same and less on the delivery charge. I think Garrison is connected with Old Master. Here is a picture of it against my Cherry cabinets....See MorePlease show me your white appliances with white cabinets!
Comments (5)Buffalotina here... When I remodelled my kitchen I already had a white fridge (Amana, nothing fancy) and a white Miele DW which I absolutely love and both were fine and not ready for replacement. The fridge is tucked away out of sight in the breakfast nook and looks OK there because there are no cabinets and the other stuff in there is utility white wire shelving, racks etc. As you see I did the Blue range. I agonized over whether the white DW would be OK but I decided to go ahead with it rather than trying to panel it or anything. My rationale was that as you look at that wall the backsplash is white and the white DW is also in the vertical plane and so I think it looks fine. I also have the small freestanding white cabinet that stands in the vertical plane. Also my cabinets are a very yellowy cream (Brookhaven French Vanilla) and so there was no problem with white on white where the whites might not look good together. That all said if and when I replace the DW and fridge I am tempted to go stainless... but it will probably all depend on what fridges are available at that point. Right now I am lusting over a Liebherr....and that is only in stainless... and when push comes to shove I may not be able to bring myself to spend that much on a fridge. I think I would be inclined to go with what looks more period for the 1915 house...and perhaps showcase the white vintage range and keep it the only white appliance? Good luck!!!...See MorePlease show me your Shaker appliance panels & hoods
Comments (3)Thanks Roseofblue, I read your thread about painting the steel cabinets and I think it would be so great if you kept them. I imagine it must be difficult to leave behind a cherry kitchen! It's nice to hear from someone who had and loved marble! Our cabinets are Candlelight cabinetry, the door style is called Carriage, one of their inset offerings. Our dishwasher is a Bosch Integra. I haven't tried it out yet. I ordered all the appliances from AJMadison.com and the salesman threw in the DW for free! I've heard good things about it but I'm leaving a house after 6 years that has no DW so I would have taken anything. The prep sink faucet is a replacement. The original one I ordered was supposed to be pretty nice, at least the price suggest so. The "nickel" was peeling off so I returned it and grabbed the one in the pic at my local Home Depot at the last minute. It's a Glacier Bay, less than $100. I hope it holds up. I do like it though! Amac514, I will take a close up of my DW panel today sometime. I hope others include pics because mine is not completely flush with the cabinets and I think others may have planned better for that....See MoreShow me your cherry cabinets please
Comments (11)Thanks all! We'll be starting totally from scratch--new build. I'm leaning towards tile floors rather than wood (even though they're all the rage right now. I might be thinking about a white kitchen--but DH is adamant they be stained. And I'm not dreaming of a white kitchen so wood it is!...See Morekellienoelle
