The animal is euthanized and the brain examined immediately! Forget the MD. Pre bite exposure injections are NOT something to be taken lightly either. There are potential *serious* health risks to consider as a result of the vaccines! They may be just as serious as the disease. Many years ago I remember that someone caught a baby raccoon in their yard and wanted the animal to become a pet for his THREE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER! OMG! They carry a species of roundworm that is potentially fatal to humans not to mention the potential for disease transmission!!! Any way, the daughter wanted to play with her new pet and got her finger bitten. (Well duh!) The two month old raccoon was brought in, killed and the head removed to send off for the health dept. to examine. During the interim the little girl started her post bite injections. The raccoon was negative for Rabies. Both the raccoon and child suffered because the parent was stoopid! I myself have been exposed to Rabies three times but cannot have the post exposure injections any more nor the pre-exposure vaccine. I have severe reactions and need to just be ultra careful when I handle the wild ones. If not, stick a fork in me because I am done either way! The animal vaccines are more to protect the public health rather than the pet but it works well for all.

Any time any pet is in respiratory distress (wheezing, sneezing, etc) it warrants an immediate trip to the vet no matter what the cause. Vaccine reactions, dusty litter, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, etc can all be fatal without veterinary care. If she is still wheezing, please take her to the nearest emergency clinic immediately for treatment. I hope she is OK.

Thanks for the input. I suppose this could be due to my body being overwhelmed with toxic poisons after seven months of chemo. Doctors started prescribing the anti-herpes Acyclovir years ago, once they saw a 30% and greater incidence of Shingles in patients getting Velcade. I'm told that what I have cannot be Shingles because that is always limited to one quadrant of the body. This sensitivity is across my entire midriff in a 4 - 6 inch band from side to side under my breasts. There is no rash. I don't know of any help for Shingles. My oncologist has prescribed gabapentin. I'm waiting a week to see if halving the Acyclovir to 400 mg will help. (OTOH, I sure don't want to *Get Shingles* because I didn't have enough Acyclovir!) patriciae -- I did look up the side effects. As I said, my four are among the top side effects for Acyclovir -- and none are in the list for Velcade. Yes, *I* too think it IS Shingles, but the MD's say it *can't be*, citing the 'quadrant' rule. I think the best move will be to get off both Velcade and Acyclovir! Evidently that can't happen until I'm seen by the top MM doctor at Northwestern Memorial, who diagnosed the MM in May. My appointment is Feb. 18.

The first shot I had sore injection site, my hip hurt, and swollen lymph nodes for a day. The second shot no swollen lymph nodes, but I ached all over for two days. But I have reactions to everything I take. Several other co-workers had NO reactions either time. Most people feel few side effects. A small percentage do. I would do it all over again if it means a lesser, or non, reaction to getting COVID. A temporary pain for long term protection!!! PSA: do NOT take pain medication before this vaccine. After is ok. It's common practice for other vaccines, but not for this one.
