I think you'd want spring down cushions if you can get them made.

I have loved down cushions forever. In the scheme of things, the seat cushions are best with a foam inner wrapped with a separate down filled duvet type cover (inside the chair/sofa cushion covers). Back cushions are full down.

Have never had a problem with spot cleaning or feathers coming through. Make sure the inside down cover is a good material as is the down percentage.

Many do not like the casual look of down. I love the feel of cozy softness when using the furniture. And am more casual, so it works for me.

You should sit on them and try them.

Few people would want a seat cushion of pure down,. It would be a lumpy mess. A foam core with a warp of down is more common and practical.The back (in my case they are loose pillows) can be all down.

I love the feel and warmth of our down sectional. It was about 2.5x the cost of a "normal sofa", but when I sat on it I had to have it. (YMMV). However, it is a casual look. We are always punching the pilllows to un-sag them.

i am in love with our spring down cushion on a stanford chair and a half we've had for over 15 years. in that time not one feather has escaped -and the sit and comfort is magnificent. there is simply no finer quality. that said, if stanford isn't making the cushion, i'd have nothing to do with down.

i have just gotten rid of two all down seat cushions from my lee sofas. they were purchased brand new and moved into our new build in august. i have tried since then to love them, but i had to face reality. no one in the family would sit in the living room since the sofas were so uncomfortable. the down would need to be "fluffed" after every single use -which was no easy task, since they basically felt more like giant cement blocks instead of feathers. the down was coming through the "protective" cover and up through the upholstery. the entire house looked as if a flock of geese had taken up residence in our home. feathers everywhere, all the time. i am thankful to be rid of them. i asked lee to replace with spring fiber cushions and they are so much better. definitely not anything near the comfort of the stanford, but i didn't expect they would be. the stanford chair cost basically the same as the two sofas. a very different animal altogether.

so. that said, i don't trust down to just any manufacturer. since you're talking about seat cushions only, i'm assuming you will have them made by a local place. i would visit and test out everything they make. if you can't sit in it, don't buy it.

i do need replacement cushions for a hancock and moore sofa we will have reupholstered. i'd like to get fiber wrapped spring cushions for it as well. but it depends on who will be making them. the only thing i know for sure -as mentioned above, no down ever again, unless it's from stanford, period. good luck!

Hancock and Moore will do replacement cushions for life (you may have to pay, however). I'd call them before I go to a third-party cushion place.

I'm about to order a Lee sofa. I was going to do cloud 9 cushin which is a spring core with down. Thats not what you have, is it? Did you consider it?

i originally had all down cushions -not the spring down. i have other down seating in my house and no problems with any of them, but the lee down cushions were horrible. replacing the down cushions with the new spring fiber (no down) cushions was a mess. when i took the cushions out i had to turn the covers inside out and pick off all the feathers. it took a few hours to de-feather EACH sofa! each of the down cushions and pillows had to be wrapped in giant plastic wrap so we could carry them out to the trash ...you heard right, they are now sitting in a dump somewhere. completely unusable and total junk. i would never advise ordering any down seating from lee. i love their furniture, but it's a fiber spring cushion for me, all the way.
