Igloo chic! My new vintage light acquisition...

...Look at what we bagged last night on ebay--found it only about 45 minutes before it ended. I saw a bunch of vintage fixtures I would love to have bought, but this one in particular is similar to the other LR and DR pan lights that are original to the house so we went with it. You will have to give me your light bulb source for future reference, as I am now in definite need of many period-looking light bulbs:

It's gorgeous...and can you believe the price!! I just can't say enough what a bargain you can get on ebay for vintage lighting. That would cost hundreds if you purchased it restored (or sold as it is...since it needs no restoration) at a resale lighting gallery.

I love it for that little pass through area. Perfect fit :)

So here's my source: It's a little shop in Minnesota and his bulbs are gorgeous (and appropriate). The gold are my favorite but many folks like the red. I prefer the gold round ones best :)

I was working on the house yesterday and had to move six antique light fixtures I don't have a house for yet LOL That's a sad little collection isn't it? heh heh

writersblock and polly so glad you also feel the above bedding but with plain white curtains would be best. That's what I've been thinking also. The white tulle sounds lovely or maybe eyelet, or maybe dotted swiss. kms we considered the Target bedding . . . it would sure save me a few bucks. But DD just doesn't like it. She really knows what she likes! It's really interesting . . . I never had such opinions at her age. She really is an "old soul" and actually does her fair share of mothering me at times. polly we just adore beds with curved footboards!! We never even knew about them until we found the website I mentioned before (foreverpinkcottagechic.com) We actually wanted a twin bed but couldn't find one with that look . . . so we decided to get the full bed. Today we also decided we're going to get a crystal chandy to complete the look! It should be stunning since it is a south facing room and the rainbows will be incredible. We never had a ceiling fixture in that room so we'll have to run wires. I'm just not sure where to hang it. If we do it centered in the room close to the ceiling then the sun may not hit it. If we hang it too low it may bonk heads? I wonder if we should plan on hanging it over the vanity area on the window side of the room? Or if that really limits furniture placement then?

Returned from my week in CA today. The new store is beautiful! Much larger than the Fillmore St store. Since it is bigger, they have several of the larger sofas on hand. One is a tufted leather, more masculine and very deep. I wish I had a place for the tufted leather high back settee. The bedding wall is huge and the selection of vintage pieces is nice. Jenny, they do have some new fabrics. Several of them I love. Being in the store makes me want to redo my house....or maybe just build another one and start over. I don't know if they are shown online yet. There is a bit of bad news, but it's temporary. The construction crew working on the build-out next door to the store broke the main water line and 2/3 of the store was flooded. The ladies were quick to grab what they could, the FD showed up quickly and the floor was dry a few hours later. They hope to reopen on Tuesday. It's definitely worth the trip if you're in the area or within an hour or so drive. They also do phone sales and can email pictures/specifications of pieces you are interested in purchasing.

Awwwhhhh, IChik, I like your winter view best. What a cutie! He is adorable! Hmmm, the girls are going to be after him..... My wildlife--I get the most on my way to and from work actually. We have opossums, coyotes, turkey vultures, deer, squirrels, foxes, etc. However some of the strangest things I see (you have to understand I was born and bred in LA) is other "wildlife" on the roads--not the drivers but there are plenty of them. I have had sheep on the roads, cows, horses, geese, etc., when I drive to and from work. Usually on Mondays, the cows are loose. I call it a Bovine Alert! They must have gotten out of an open fence. I remember driving on the freeway when I first moved here and looking to my right to see a goat in the backseat of the car next to me, going down the road at 70 mph. It looked at me and I at him. The ladies in the front seat driving were chatting back and forth like this was one of the most "normal" things on earth! I couldn't believe this goat staring at me! Plus, all the windows were up in the car! Goats don't smell too good. Yikes! Then about six months ago or so, I look at the car in front of me and there is a sheep in the back, staring at me! Beautiful sheep. Must have been on the way to a show or something, but a sheep none-the-less. Ah, yes, it is never dull around here. While we are OT--Human wildlife on the road. I have seen make-up being put on, shaving, etc. However, a new one the other day. A guy was brushing his teeth while driving. Does he spit or swallow? If he spits, does it get all over his car? Does he rinse with a Starbucks? He had to be going about 60 or so MPH. Unbelieveable (shaking head back and forth). I can't figure it out!

These are some pieces I had saved as inspiration, I think this is the look I am going for like a distressed white paint with a natural wood top. I was thinking a wide chest of drawers On the bigger wall leading to the walk-in closet, with the TV on top of that. I hate exposed TVs but idk what other choice I have. (TV is for my spouse). Then in the smaller wall leading to the walk in, I was debating a taller chest of drawers, or perhaps the vanity angled in the corner and a lingerie chest type set of drawers next to it for my make up? I currently am using an IKEA Alex drawer set for my make up and perfume and it’s very functional but I want to replace it with something that matches better. Or, I was thinking of angling the vanity and one of the back corners? Not sure if that would work though. I was picturing nightstands below the window but still on the hunt for these as I want them to look a little different than the rest of the furniture, still matching but not identical. Perhaps a white weathered wood with a mirrored top?

Thank you, brutuses--didn't mean to leave you or anyone else out! I remember you're working on a historic home in NO, right? Igloochic was recently prodding me to get the bulbs for my other pan lights so I thought of her right away.
Yes, igloochic, ebay sure is fantastic! I looked at a couple of the retail sites for 'restored' or rejuvenated vintage fixtures and it's slim pickins for less than $300, and that's just the smaller fixtures. Thanks for the link to the bulbs. And I'm always interested in pictures of vintage lighting, even if they haven't found a permanent home yet, so if you get bored and want something to do, post some pictures! I almost forgot--I've got a little 2-bulb ceiling mount fixture in the BR that was here when we moved in. Someone had painted it a very insipid looking off-white that became dirty and a bit tired, so I spruced it up a bit. Nothing too over the top. I'll have to add a picture of it here.
