Screened Porch Lighting Ideas - Please Help!

I'm adding a 14 X 14 screened porch to the northeast corner of my house. I looking for ideas on types of lighting I should add to the porch. I'm planning on a ceiling fan for sure, but I'm wondering what other people have done or would suggest for additional lighting. It will have a vaulted cathederal ceiling finished in pine. Any ideas welcome!

We put track lighting, with dimmer switches, in our 12x16 screen porch, also with a cathedral ceiling. This allowed us to direct light to reading and dining areas and also reflect light off of the ceiling. We've been happy with the result. We also have a ceiling fan, but did not feel the need for a light for the fan. By the way, make sure any fan you get is rated for exterior use, even though it is in a covered area an exterior fan is recommended. Casablanca has a couple of nice ones.

I happen to like led lights. low voltage, with the rapid advancement in technology in the last couple of years it is possible to get lots of light with little power consumption. Even if conventionaly wired it is possible to use led bulbs.

Kinda sounds like you're getting tired of the whole process. BUilding a house is like having a baby....it's hell during the process, but you love it afterword. I'll take a piece of this....The only problem I know of with painting the treads is usually the wood is still "wet", so the primer doesn't get a good grip especially with people walking on it. Horizontal surfaces take a beating...sun, rain, people. I would let it set and dry out (maybe a couple of weeks with no rain), then prime and then use a porch floor paint. I use all-latex outside and oil based on interior woodwork.

If its on the south have it all open with a polycarbonate roof. With screens and polycarbonate walls. It will be see through great heat producer in the winter. If on the north have a fire feature(pizza oven) to cook and provide heat in the winter, glass, screen or polly with a covered roof.

This is our third house with a screened in porch. Maine-Bugs. Could not live without one. We left wood planks on one floor.(our cabin in the mts.)The second had wood planks and we used indoor/outdoor carpet. The home we live in now is a cement slab. Because it is Maine we had to use a certain type tile. We looked at some that looked like slate. Then we saw real slate at HD for soooo cheep. It is absolutely beautiful. We used 16x16" tiles and my DH laid them at an angle. It has multi faded colors like greenish, grayish,rustish,maroonish. Typical slate just not a solid color.
