Best store for cute shelf paper near Burbank?

Hi!

We FINALLY moved into our Spanish Bungalow fixer.

Now I just need some shelf liner so I can unpack my kitchen stuff. I would like it to be cute/fun shelf liner and Home Depot and Lowe's just ain't cuttin' it. I can't wait for samples from fussy online designers. I'm tired and just want to unpack. As a newbie on this coast I don't have a clue where to look.

So I ask you, oh California sisters and brothers of the GardenWeb, where can I grab some cute shelf liner?

Oh! And not the nubby, rubbery kind. I'm short and that kind drives me insane when I'm trying to get something from a high shelf :)

Hey, I'm newish to this coast too! I also have a Spanish, but not a bungalow or old. Does Ikea have shelf liners? They would probably have cute ones. There is an Ikea in Burbank. Would Sur La Table carry them? There is one in Old Town Pasadena. Would Williams Sonoma have them? There is one at the Galleria Mall in Glendale. That's all I can come up with right now. :-)

Have you tried IKEA or Bed Bath and Beyond? There's an IKEA right in Burbank. Welcome to the left coast!

amazon, Our weather here in Okieland is so radical that it even confuses the crocuses. They don't know when it's time to come up and announce that Spring has sprung! For the first two years after I first planted crocuses on my 'ranch', they came up early as harbingers of Spring. They were so pretty and cheerful. Normally, the last frost date is between April 1st and April 15th, but the following year we had an arctic blast move down into the Southern Plains and winter returned with single digit temps, snow and fierce winds for 2 weeks in April, and needless to say, it bit the crocuses poor little heads off and melted their delicate flowers to a frozen, slimy blob. Every year since then they have come up (or not come up) whenever they chose to do so. Last year they came up AFTER the Jonquils and after the tulips. They were nearly hidden behind the Oriental Poppy leaves that had been up several days. I nearly missed seeing them! They sure were pretty though. I guess they just decided to wait until it was safe to come up!

I like cork in drawers. Things don't slide around but not sticky like rubber. It is thin so need to handle and cut with care, but once down and cut to the right size it stays put. (i think i got mine at pottery barn) I also have the semi-clear ribbed from Ikea that is nice for pantry shelves. Lower shelves and under the sink and in the broom closet i use black rubber mat. It is used for non-slip walkways...very heavy and doesn't show dirt for the spots that get mucky. I can take it out once a year and hose it off outside or give it a good scrub. Lasts for years. Thanks scrappy for your input. Yes, I've learned to be a little careful about accepting expert reviews on the web without further evaluation. Just like in the normal population, they are all different and have different needs and experience. Plus depending on the date of the review, things, especially Ikea manufacturing processes could change from year to year. I like to read the reviews and hear about other opinions but also think about my own kitchen which is what most on gardenweb here recommend and remind us to do. Glad to hear that the bifold cabinet door on the lazy susan isn't causing you any problems. That was really the main concern I had about the corner lazy susan I've chosen. The pole down the middle was the second concern. Another vote from Ankh regarding no pole in the middle. That is the only reason I'm looking at customizing with Hafele shelves (Ikea doesn't have this option). I can see myself cursing that pole considering the larger and/or odd sized items I've got in my plans for this corner. So right now, I'm still liking my plan. That's a good thing. Confirmation always helps. I don't need the drawers, EVERYTHING ELSE will be DRAWERS except upper cabs so a little extra height with the Lazy Susan cabinet without the drawer will be a good thing for odd sized stuff. I have a friend in physical rehab (since December) and when I was visiting before Easter I decided I wanted to get each patient on her hallway a little something. Food was not acceptable so I found little flowerpots with silk flowers at the dollar store. They were so pretty- - sure didn't look like dollar store items. I packaged each one (25) in a little gift bag also from the dollar store and made little tags decorated with flower and butterfly stickers and wrote a few words on each. They were a hit and when I go to visit now I see many of the patients have put them on their window sills. It sure was fun.

x-posted with chispa. Her mention of Old Town Pasadena reminded me -- if you all are looking for furnishings and decor for your new places, you should check out the Rose Bowl Flea Market. I just went the other weekend for the first time. I'm usually not a flea market person, but this place was incredible.

Pip, I keep putting it on my calendar, but haven't had a chance to go yet. Good to know it is worth going. Maybe we should have a "THS Meet" at the next RB Flea Market!

Never even thought of Sur La Table as an option, nor Williams Sonoma. Great suggestions! Ikea and Bed Bath are right near me as you said, so I'll try them first.
And just so you know, the Pasadena flea market is AWESOME! We bought two hand made mosaic patio chairs in the shapes of a face and a butterfly, (the actual wrought iron as well as the tiles), a small, mosaic sailboat table and a mosaic tile covered turtle my DH just weirdly fell in love with all for 75 bucks! It was the end of the day and we were able to "bundle". We bought the stuff before we even closed on the house LOL! Now they're sitting in our front courtyard area and all of our new neighbors come over and ask where we got them. A great bonus perk: conversation starters :)
Wear really, really comfortable shoes and use the restrooms before you go through the gates. Bring water and lots of cash in small denominations. Don't be discouraged by the huge surrounding ring of common, new junk you could get at any street fair back in NY. There is a different, massive area of old collectibles and treasures. Large furniture selection wasn't all that, but the smaller stuff is great.
