What is the best way to store pots, pans and lids
Comments (28)laughable - I'm not Chicago Bob, but we had considered something like that at one point when it looked like I might not be able to have my 3rd (top) drawer under my induction cooktop at a usable height...we would have had the front represent as the two drawers, but part of the front would have been covering an area of the cooktop clearance, then the drawer in a drawer would have been just below that...putting the drawer within a drawer would have yielded me the storage area that I needed, even if it was a bit less convenient. If you have a choice though, I would be less likely to do the drawer in a drawer. As it is, my top drawer front for my cooktop cabinet is 6" high (lining up with the rest of the top drawers in the kitchen) and will have a drawer depth of about 2 1/2"...enough for me to put flatter utensils (or some people would put lids) in that area....See MoreCan a 1 ft. wide tall cab be useful?
Comments (37)We have 2 12'' x 30'' deep pullouts and I love them. This one is my double row spice rack. The rack in the front is one my father made for me 25 years ago and I have moved it from VA to CT and back. I asked our cabinet maker if there might be some way to include it in our design and he created this amazing cabinet with my dad's (formerly backless) rack in the front. It slides forward or back as needed to reveal the rack in the back as well. I have found the 12'' cabinets to be a very good use of small spaces....See MoreHow to store heavy pantry items in drawer/pantry pullouts
Comments (9)Blum has new full extension/ soft close drawer hardware. Old Runners: Blum 562 series - 75 lbs dynamic/100 lbs static Blum 568 H series - 110lb dynamic/125 lbs static - heavy duty New Runners: Blum 563 series - 90 lbs dynamic/100 lbs static Blum 569 H series - 135 lbs dynamic/150!lbs static My cabinet manufacturer was still carrying the old runners when my cabinets were ordered, Feb., 2013. I had the hardware for four 36" drawers switched to the heavy duty 568H series in March, 2014. The soft close on my dish drawer stopped working & through GW I figured out it was a weight issue. With the 568H runners installed, my drawers feel stable & the soft close works, although I do wish I had upgraded to the even heavier 569H series. My experience with my KD was overall very good but the company she works for didn't know Blum heavy duty drawer runners even existed. She contacted her rep at Woodmode/Brookhaven, who was also clueless. I had to provide them with part numbers. It seems to me that if you are going to sell 36" or wider drawers, you should advise your customer to purchase heavy duty hardware. I've attached a link with all the Blum info about part numbers, weight limits, etc. Here is a link that might be useful: New Blum Tandem Plus Blumotion Drawer Runners...See MoreBest way to store pots and pans
Comments (18)Corners are always difficult. Blum makes those cool corner drawers like plllog. however, a little wedge of 2 triangles are wasted to the left and right of the drawers, which i could not afford to lose... Magic corner (I think is the name) does not. There are other pullout corner devices that do wastes less time and the contents are pulled out. These do not have folding corner doors that lazy susans have. The problem with lazy susan is that the opening is small to get things in and out of the spot. Lasy susans require that the corners have hinged doors. I did not like these very well in my old kitchen. Currently, I installed pullout type of corner peanuts. This way, I have a place to store oversized things which do not fit into drawers. I have all lower drawers. pullout peanuts: http://69.50.210.69/~ezeedemo/surrealdesigns/wp-content/uploads/image/inolemans.jpg I really wanted the magic corner but my cabinet maker would NOT warrantee the product. It is not their usual thing that they offer because they were not sure that hardware would last if you really load them up! (my cabinets come with lifetime warantee) When I visit Ikea, I always check out their corner hardware, i have seen them "falling" apart at times which tells me that they may not hold up to abuse.... magic corner: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51kSKKkpitL._SL500_AA300_.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.nicefurnishings.com/b/Blinds/Chrome_Blind_Corner_Organizer_Pullout_Unit_for_Kitchen_Base_Blind_Cabinet_B001ROS8Y8.htm&usg=__w4sIT08NPqf5eJ0bt9cGD8I1HYw=&h=300&w=300&sz=24&hl=en&start=28&sig2=HUO18TAhy7fWYey6i3SOYQ&tbnid=F5rxj__9DVsVsM:&tbnh=116&tbnw=116&ei=GldcTM3DCZCisQPvwPHbDQ&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcorner%2Bpullout%26start%3D20%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1G1GGLQ_ENUS337%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1 lazysusan http://www.ajdesigncompany.com/images/kd/lazys2.jpg...See Moremichoumonster
