We have one like that. Ours was made by Pella Door and I think they call it a French door with a 'fixed' door panel. One opens one doesn't.

I'm glad you guys understood what I was trying to explain. I was sure I had pictures, but what I found were LOTS of pictures taken THROUGH the doors, but nothing OF the doors. This was the only one I could find, and it's still missing a panel in the pic. It does sort of show how big the space is we need to fill.

I would imagine Home Depot or Lowes might have what you need, or can special order if that is what it takes. Do you have either store close to you?

I would want to keep the glass just because it is so attractive. So is that little beauty standing there by it!

Visit a big box hardware store like Menards or Home Depot. They have displays of patio doors of several styles. Brouse these to get ideas, then search on-line.

You didn't describe the problem with your doors. If these are balky to slide, it is possible that a little manitence will fix it. Sticky, balky patio doors are often caused by dirty tracks and rollers in need of lubing. Clean these up and apply lube to the bearings of the rollers, and you might be pleasntly surprised.

Study the construction of your doors. Some models can be lifted out of the bottom track, then the bottom end of the door moved to disegage the top from its retainer track. Get help when you do this, These doors are HEAVY and you could end up dropping one, and or straining yourself.

I have a "huge" 1963 glass sliding patio door. It was never used when my Mother lived here. It was difficult to open because the house has settled. I sprayed "WD40" in the track and it opens fine now.

Lowes or Home Depot will replace the doors for you for a minimal fee. I was charged $45.00 for my front door replacement which included the frame/casing.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to replace my slider with french doors. Just don't want to spend the money.

We did the opposite--took out French doors and replaced them with sliding "French" doors. Our old ones were very drafty and the seals had broken, making the glass cloudy.

Our new doors and windows are Milgard wood-clad fiberglass, so they were rather expensive. These doors cost over $2000 each. We had them installed by a contractor.

I'd do French Door type: fixed panels in two and one Swing out.
