If you're doing pebbletec, I believe there's only one installer for the entire area (talk about monopoly!): Classic Marcite. When they did my ptec, I was pretty happy with them and their customer service was good. They did a lot of the big tourist hotels around here too. The guy said they are the only licensed ptec installer for all of Central Fla.

I am happy with the job and follow up they did (had to repair a small area due to thin troweling on the swimout)
Just make sure you are there when they are ready to apply-They seem to have a knack for bringing the wrong color, or wrong finish.

We contracted with Classic Marcite 4 weeks ago (in May), and they STILL have not put in the Pebble Tec. It took them 2 weeks before they came out to prep the old surface, and they were supposed to install a bench, but as of today, they still have not done anything more than the surface prep. They make lots of promises (the guy will work this weekend to get it done, etc.), but no follow-through as of yet.

There is another local Pebble Tec authorized installer... look at their website for the name (www.pebbletec.com), but at this point, I would NOT recommend Classic Marcite!

We are in the process of our pool renovation. We are using A.T. Coyman, Sam Brown is the sales rep. So far we are pleased with what is being done. We chose Pebble Sheen instead of Pebble Tec. We have been told the pebbles are smaller and not as hard on the feet, etc. Pebble Sheen has a lifetime warranty. As far as timing goes, I haven't heard of any pool company staying on schedule. I prefer quality over staying on schedule. Good Luck!

White Sands is another authorized Pebble Tec installer in central FL. Artisian Pools has a good reputation - although they probably sub the finish work. I used Seminole Pool and Tile to do my finish (I did an owner built pool). Randy of Seminole did a great job with the finish. I went with Millinun which is a Diamond Brite type finsh made by Premix-marbletite (manufactured in Sanford and Pompano Beach).

We also used White Sands for our PebbleTec. We were very pleased and had no trouble getting them back to polish a couple of rough spots. I would recommend them.

Just wanted to followup and say thanks to all who shared information. We went with White Sands and could not be more pleased with the job they did.

We signed the contract just over 3 weeks ago and it's finished as of yesterday. We spent today enjoying our 'new' pool. The finish is beautiful (Tahoe PebbleTec) and matches our existing dark teal edging tiles perfectly.

White Sands had photos, of course, of finished pools and several showed mosaic tiles embedded in the finish. We decided to go with a couple and love the way it turned out.

These people were real pros - showed up when they said they would, did exactly what they said they would do, and didn't destroy a single one of my plants in the process even though the plantings must have made it difficult for the various crews to get through the patio doors!

I would gush some more but the storm clouds passed and the sun is back out so I'm headed out to the pool!

Smurfette - here are some pictures in shade and in sun. We didn't want to (and couldn't affort to!) replace all the surrounding tile which is dark teal, so we had to stay away from anything too blue. My neighbor has the Caribbean and that helped us judge colors, too. The Caribbean is lighter and bluer.
The Tahoe satisfied my desire to have a darker pool and went great with the tile. It turned out to be a very natural and sandy color, expecially in the shallow end. I think it would be perfect for a pool in a natural setting with stones and plantings around the edges, too.

It is definitely greenish, so if you are looking for 'resort swimming pool blue' you may want to go with a different color.

This is the "deep" end but it's only about 5'3".

The crab is on the step out seat. Unfortunately he was chipped while they were smoothing the pebbles. This little chip was the only negative incident in the whole process so I think we were pretty lucky! I've read so many horror stories that this doesn't seem like a very big deal.

Looks great & I love the flip flops and crab mosaic! That is such a cute idea instead of putting tiles on the step edges. Is White Sands a builder also?

Thanks for the comment on the tiles on the steps. We really like it too. Much better than the little diamond tiles. Because my mother is elderly (89) and still swims with us, we wanted to be sure she could see the steps clearly, so the bright flip flops are perfect for us. The salesperson with White Sands - Cindy, too - told us about a pool they did in which the owners had one shoe on the top step, the other shoe on the next, a bikini top on the pool floor near the steps and the bottoms further out in the pool. Then they finished it off by having the beautiful mosaic of a mermaid swimming with a turtle a little further out. Isn't that cute? The mosaic possibilities are really wonderful and I think they add a nice touch.

There are also really nice shell and starfish tiles that are just the right size - about 3"x3" - in a variety of solid colors. We had planned to use the starfish but wanted the sandy beige ones and the store was out of that color when we stopped in. So we switched to the fish and flip flops. Now I'm glad we did because the bright colors are so easy for my mother to see.

If the cost had not been an issue, I would like to have used the seahorses and seaweed along the sides of the pool.

I know this is late in the game but I took the advice here and hired White Sands. I can't say enough good things about them, nice people, great schedule, beautiful work and product exceeds expectations. They went from contract to completion in about 2 1/2 weeks and everyone involved was lovely to work with. I was really impressed how they had on-staff professionals for every phase of the job. Basically a guy would come out each day to do his part and was usually very proud of their work. We also had several tile pieces put in (dolphins, crabs, turtles, etc) and they worked out great. Hi, I am in the central Brevard area & am just now starting to research resurfacing my pool. It already has areas where the plaster is flaking off. It is an in ground & I think concrete since I am not sure what is under the plaster, not the original owner of the property. I think the pool 16 X 35 and 4 at shallow & 8 at deep, kidney shaped with round stairs.

1. What is the recommended resurface process?
2. What are some of the recommended resurface material & what is the average cost?
3. Is there anything new on the market for resurfacing materials?
4. Are mosaics a good idea to add to the resurfacing project? Are they difficult to maintain or cause issues or problems later with the resurfaced pool?

First time pool owner looking for some advice to help with my pool resurfacing decision process.

I can't speak to all of your questions, but I can tell you that the mosaics were a great idea. They have held up extremely well and after a year, the pool looks exactly like it did when White Sands finished the job.
The PebbleTec has not been hard on feet at all. Actually, it's a gentle non-skid surface. The only place we notice it as rough at all is along the edge of the steps and even there it's not a problem.

PebbleSheen is basically PebbleTec but then they grind it down a little to smooth it off. The cost difference was significant to us - about $1200-$1500 if I recall correctly - and not worth the extra money or the delay. I think it would have added 2 or 3 days to the process. That's probably not a big deal if you want the smoother surface, but I was so impatient to have it all done!

solstice98- your pebbletec looks great. i am contracted for standard colors pebbletec. its good to hear that its not too rough. i think my builder would give me the sheen for a slight increase but he says the tec looks better (more character). i am going with the hayward color logic lites so i have been told to stay with light finishes (white diamonds). my builder thinks the carribean would be good. how does your nite lights look?

Hi, I am also interested in data & experience with resurfacing my in ground cement pool & using the Beadcrete grout with pool tiles/mosaic patterns.

I would like to know how well Beadcrete products handle the pool environments (both fresh & salt water since I am thinking of switching) & chemicals. Also when will these applications need repairs/replacement & how long is the Beadcrete guaranteed?
