I would paint it red.

Depending on how big your room is... red would look good but I would go more towards a goldenrod yellow. That is what I have in mine and I love it. Accent in reds!

Funny you should ask this right now. I was just thinking about painting my laundry. I thought of a terra cotta color, BUT the room next to it is the kitchen and I have some red accents in there. I think we could see too much red/orangish color next to each other.

I like both of the colors mentioned, I just wanted to plant the idea, in case it needs to blend with something else. I love that border!

I'd buy the one with the red trim and paint the room to match the large yellow sheet on the line. Solid, not sponged. I had sponged walls in the master BR and the office for so many years and I will never, ever do that again, I got so sick of it.

I'd pick the one with the red trim, and paint the laundry room a dark greeny-blue. That's the colour of my dining room and I LOVE it! The colour is called Kingfisher - it's a really dark teal, if that makes any sense.

I like the red trimmed one. I would do the walls in yellow also.

I, too, prefer the red border (although that could be because I saw it first and it's larger than the clip of the one with the green border).

My choice for wall color would be a pale yellow -- solid, not sponged.

well let me tell you my laundry room paint story lol. i have a simple stencil of a laundry line and was going to use similiar colors to the red border you have w/ a buttery mellow yellow, sunny, bright but subdued. had everything all bought then DH jokingly says 'ohh yeah that yellow will go great in the room w/ the cat litter boxes, brings the pee smell right out' lol... that was yrs ago i have yet to do anything w/ my mud/laundry room :-/ and the cat boxes left more than a yr ago. BT i like the red w/ yellow combo lol ~ liz

my laundry room is so small i'd go with the pale lemon on the sheets, do the ceiling in pale blue...white trim...right now it's sooo 1970 yukky...

I do like the red border better, I'd do as others suggested though and forget about the sponged walls.

I think the color of the walls would depend on the colors of adjoining rooms. That said.. I love a light aqua (like the ladies' skirt) with red. :-)

I'm with kat....would use the green and paint the walls the background color in the border. Definetly solid whatever color you decide on. Sponging with the border would be too much. Red with a soft yellow would be nice, too.

I'm in the crowd picking the border that's trimmed with red. But I'd paint the walls a light lime green like the garment hanging behind the middle lady.

I would use the red-edged border and paint the room a bright, happy yellow. Not cream. Yellow! Yellow to match the skirt of the first lady's dress.

But then, I very biased. I want my kitchens and laundry rooms to always be yellow.

That is so cute! I am planning to do mine also, I have a border of hanging laundry with some similar colors, I am plan on using the medium blue color. Blue & water go together for me.

Well that is just too cute! I think either one would be great. I don't really have a laundry room since we moved it to the second floor. It is more a laundry closet. No room for any border and I just have it a light color like my bathroom. You will have to post some pictures when you are finished.

I would do a bright yellow! 'Cause that is what mine is! LOL It is a small room without windows and I wanted it bright! Dean doesn't like it, but I don't really care! :b That is what I painted it when we built in '87 and that is what it was repainted too.

Bigfoot Liz...that is where 1 of our cat boxes is...never thought of it 'smelling more because of yellow pee color'! LOL

What is the color of the adjoining room(s)? Do the colors maybe 'flow' from room to room or is each room quite unique compared to the adjoining rooms?

How funny, I'm painting my laundry room today. My color is called "corn husk". It's a sunny (yellowish) green, like a Granny Smith apple. It would look good with your border.
If you don't mind me asking, where did you find it. It's great!

I'd look for a wallpaper with tropical scenes on it - and then I'd pretend I was relaxing on a beach listening to the water lapping on the shore --- which of course is really the sound of the water draining out of the washing machine. And of course the tropical breeze is the dryer!

PS - I vote for cheerful yellow walls - and of course then I could pretend it was the sun!

McMann...you need the mural I put in my sunroom...that way you can do laundry and while away at the beach!

Dani...I haven't ordered it yet...but it most likely come from the place from the red trim...unless I find it somewhere cheaper...I need four rolls and it's 18.00 a roll!! They had some on Amazon for 12.00 a roll...
Here's what my laundry room looks like now...It's fairly good size.

I do like the red...with the yellow option...however the green has the background the color of my floor in there...I could still do yellow though...I'm glad ya'll veto'd the sponge job cause I wasn't really all that choked up about it...it was just an idea that I quickly took your advice on!

I'll let you know...I just hope the old wallpaper comes off easy!!

I found this picture on the net several years ago...It's my dream laundry room...but it takes someone with talent in painting of which I don't have...Isn't it darling!!

Another vote for the border with the red trim.
As for the walls, I'd go with any of the light shades of yellow, green, blue or gray.

Be sure to post an "after" picture.

Liz - that's a great mural! But the best part are the beautiful collies basking on the sand color rug! The sound machine is a nice touch and if you had a ceiling fan the atmosphere would be nearly complete - all you would need is a Mai Tai and a suntan.

Liz, decided to finally open this post today and couldn't believe I was seeing this cute border again. My sis, Summer, showed it to me in an email the other day.

It would go great in my cheery yellow and white laundry room. Wish I still had the small red TV to use in there, too; I'm one of those who would wish to have a TV in every room. :)

I am in the camp of choosing the paper with the red trim and walls a yellow to match the ladies dress - or sheet on the line.
IMO a red wall would be too claustrophobic in a small room.
I would keep any laundry cabinets white.
