This is too funny not to share.... My husband came home early from work today and realized he forgot to deposit an expense check. So I said, "let's run to the bank, I'll go with you, it's a gorgeous afternoon, blah, blah, blah." So we pull into the nearest bank (definitely post-Katrina built - basically double-wide trailer with very skimpy parking lot.) He goes in, does his business, and comes out. In backing up he notices a pickup truck that has parked crookedly in two spaces. In his attempt to miss hitting him, he grazes the car on the opposite side. That owner has left her car running, because she's had car trouble, and her son in the backseat. My husband gets out, with his insurance papers, and looks up, and this older gentleman in a Volkswagen Beetle is backing up and hits this woman's same car! The son gets out, and the doors automatically lock, with her car still running, keys in ignition. It takes forever for Barny and Andy to show up and file a report. I stay in our car while my husband handles the rest. As things are winding down, I feel this "bump" and darn if someone hasn't hit US! Some jerk in a rental car with an earphone on the size of Dallas! Well, he doesn't even stop, so I jump out and alert everyone that we now have been hit. They stop this guy and read him the riot act (no real damage done to our car, so my husband says let him go.) I came home and quickly chilled a bottle of wine - to heck with Weight Watchers. My husband is determined to find out if the parking lot was built to code. He had his camera and took lots of pictures, including one of the truck that took up two spaces. Glad it was his car and not mine - ha!

Patience, Rita, patience. To answer some questions. As for transplanting the plug tray of pansies. It's a many step process. First the flats are filled with soil. Flats are the trays of 4 paks. Then the plugs are popped out with a plug dislodger. Sometimes this works very well, at other times it doesn't and we pop them out with a small dowell. Then they'rer actually planted. Next they're transported from the headhouse (where all the planting is done) to the greenhouse. After they're lined up on the bench they're watered well. with a crew of 4 we can do a plug tray in 35 to 45 minutes. I have to admit that I never looked at the labels to see what seeds Joel has started already. My bad. Nearly all the veggies and herbs are started from seeds. During the growing part of the greenhouse season there are 4 of us in addition to Joel at the greenhouse most days. When it gets real busy with selling in May we'll be up to 10 or 12 people on the weekends. By the end of June it will be just 1 person plus Joel. He has one pretty much full time employee from early Feb. to the end of October. Her name is Laurie and she does lots of scrapbooking in the winter months. She's quite camera shy. The greenhouse is a great place to work. Most of us are in our mid 50's so we listen to a lot of CD's, classic rock.(The Stones, 3 dog night, Aerosmith, etc.) Laurie is the kid. She's only in her mid 40's. At least 2 or 3 times a week she'll play a BeeGees CD. I keep telling her that disco is dead but she doesn't believe me. And, yes, Blossom is a very sweet dog. Thanks for looking. Ron

You're right, Nora, the larger black tubes are feeder lines and the small ones are individual water lines for the plants. A lead weight goes on the end of each one when it's placed in the pot. The hoses are used to water hanging baskets that will be placed above the geraniums. They're just laying there to get warmed and straightened in the sun. The "FedEx plants" are Bidens. They're very vigorous and most of them we were able to salvage. Soon they'll get small yellow flowers. Joel doesn't ship any plants. At least not yet. About 90% of the sales are retail and 10% wholesale. Thanks for looking. Ron

I love the coleus too! I've decided this year to plant all my coleus close together, and harvest seeds so I can see what happens. My friend did that, and she got some really interesting hybrids. She said you need at least one of all the cheap ones you can find at the big box stores, and a few different ones for it to be successful. I have the few different ones, now I just need to go shopping.

Beautiful! I want about 2 dozen of everything there.

Except I don't bother with Pansys in my climate and New Gunieas don't like me.
