Greenhouse pics week 5

We started the week planting and putting geraniums online.

Geranium greenhouse first thing Monday morning.

Here's Jeff, myself, and Denise setting them out.

The same greenhouse by noon tuesday.

How do we fill all those pots with soil? Lucy does it for us. Lucy is a pot filler. Empty flats are set on on side, and the filled ones come off the other end. Karen, Denise and Laurie are running Lucy. Why Lucy? She can fill a tray every 2 seconds so it reminds us of Lucille Ball and Ethel in the episode where they're working at the conveyor belt in the chocolate factory.

Not all plant shipments make it to us in good shape. Apparently some people at FedEx don't get the whole arrow always points up concept.

Some of the greenhouses from the outside. Looking from here in the back row there are 5 greenhouse and in the near row there are 4 including the uncovered one in the foreground.

This is a new variety of Nemesia for us this year. Fruit punch.

Blossom says "Thanks for the treat, Uncle Ron".

Glenda the poppies are orientals and the mix colors are from a mix called Pizzicato, Burpee brand seeds. Zinnias sure would be nice but they would meet a swift and certain death in that location. It is literally ontop of bedrock. The poppies took over for daffodils and tulips and there is sage and lavender next but they still need to mature some. I wish I had regular beds. sigh. Thanks Blondiesc. I appreciate that. :-) Rita, thank you. I agree about the short bloom time but they seem to put up so many blossoms that you end up with poppies for a long time. Last year was my first year for them and there were flowers for a month and half. That worked for me. Becr, thank you and thank you for the tip. I just took notes and will be looking for that iris. It would be so cool to have them bloom twice. I would have a bunch of those to be sure. I never knew poppies came in white either! Patti thank you for such a nice compliment. Sierra that just plain hurts to have frost this early!We managed to stay above the frostline here last night but it sure was foggy this morning.I like the shocking colour combo of the morning glory and impatiens Marcia a few of mine flemish antique poppy echinacea- Prima Donna Orly asiatic lily the flowerbox on the deck is full and over flowing Peaches and cream snapdragon balcony planter a planter on the deck with Skizzy the cat planter in a the flowerbed a couple more glads caribbean carnival dahlia..the picture is being kind to it..it looks like ketchup and mustard mixed together to me...lol Seattle dahlia savona

Karalynn, great pathway. I really like the arrangement of the pavers and the hardscape. Your pagoda are looking beauteous! I love mine too and am willing to put up with the invasiveness because they just do so much for me and for the butterflies. They are work, though. I can't imagine being without them. I would love to see more of your plantings on the left side of your path sometime. Felix, beautiful pink rose! I need to get outside with my camera. 5 Week Kitchen Remodel Complete! - Lots of Pics

~ "Love your drawer organizers. May I ask where you purchased them? " I actually found those at Lowes for $23 each. A very happy find. ~ "How wide are your pots and pans drawers? Do you have two, or more? Are you able to fit everything comfortably?" There is a 24" drawer unit to the left of the range and a 21" unit on the right. All four of the lower drawers are used for pots and smaller pans and the top two drawers store my cooking utensils (spatulas, ladles, spoons, etc.) The actually drawers hold an impressive amount of cookware. Right now I have in them: 1 - 4qt saute pan 3 - 3qt saucepans 2 - 3.5qt saucepans 2 - 2 qt saucepans 1 - 1.5 qt saucepan 1 - 2 qt saucier 1 - 1 qt saucepan 1 - 8" skillet 2 - 3qt steamer inserts 2 - nonstick skillets ... and the lids for all of them. The only pans which don't fit in those drawers are my large skillets, large stockpots (12 & 16 qt) and the wok. The skillets are hanging on those hooks set up off to the right of the range and the stockpots & wok I keep stored under the island (as they are used less frequently).

Oh how I love seeing these pictures Ron. I'm a greenhouse junkie. Everything looks like it's coming together so nicely. Wish I had the rejects, I'd 'try' to revive them. I've always been for the underdog ya know. LOL Blossom looks like the perfect little partner.

Thank you Ron! I look forward to your posts of the greenhouses. With another good month of winter weather to go through, seeing all these lovely plants helps feed my need to garden right now.

Great pics, Ron. In the first one there are what looks like wires coming out of feeder lines. I'm guessing they're watering tubes? I see the hoses on the sides of the benches. Am I correct?
And, as usual, Blossom is looking lovely. She has the perfect name.

You're right, Nora, the larger black tubes are feeder lines and the small ones are individual water lines for the plants. A lead weight goes on the end of each one when it's placed in the pot. The hoses are used to water hanging baskets that will be placed above the geraniums. They're just laying there to get warmed and straightened in the sun.
The "FedEx plants" are Bidens. They're very vigorous and most of them we were able to salvage. Soon they'll get small yellow flowers.
Joel doesn't ship any plants. At least not yet. About 90% of the sales are retail and 10% wholesale.
