Help! Need 'Pre' Second Opinion on gunite/leak issue

The pool builder is coming to check this out, but you folks are so knowledgeable and helpful I had to get these questions out there:

Water seeped from the ground and through the gunite (outside in). Does this indicate a problem with the guniteÂs structure, strength, ability to hold water, etc.?

Background: WeÂre in the middle of our pool build. The next step is decking. Everything was going great until the neighborÂs pool sprung a slow leak which flowed into our yard. This happened a few times. Each time it dried up at least on the surface. After several patient requests to get them to find/stop/fix the problem, we scheduled a leak detection company to investigate. Unfortunately (or maybe luckilyÂglass half full ;-)) the day before they came, we had the biggest 'spill' so far. At the end of 12 hours, the ground was so soaked we noticed a couple of wet spots inside our gunite shell. The spots grew into one big spot before eventually drying up. (IÂll try to attach pix.) The leak was found, the water level was lowered to temp stop the leak, and a fix is scheduled for Thursday. Our drainage company is also making provisions to keep any future leaks away from the pool. WeÂre doing everything we can think of to protect our pool and our property, but we still worry about the things we donÂt know that we donÂt know. You know?

Sorry for the long post, but any insight on the gunite issue would be greatly appreciated.
