Whoopie Do for you, Linda!

Guess you have more time to come to B'ham, right?

Took me quite a while to get adjusted to retirement vs work schedule.

Enjoy your new way of life!

Come to B'ham, soon, and I'll treat you to a RETIREMENT lunch!

Oh congratulations Linda. Good for you! You've worked hard and now you deserve to relax and spend time doing those things that make you happy. I guess it will take a couple of weeks to get used to it. Have you thought about what you'd like to do?

Wow! That is a MAJOR life change! I just can't imagine what that feels like. Good for you!

Congratulations! I retired 2 years ago and want to get a job so I can rest! I keep busier than when I had a 'job'.

Congrats!!

I HIGHLY recommend retirement. My boss told me, "Call me if you wanna come back and I think you will." Seven years this summer & there has not been ONE day, no make that one SECOND that I have yearned to be @ the grindstone again.

A couple of weeks after I retired, I was leaving a grocery store, walking across the parking lot & it came to me ... I'm hurrying! ..... Why???.... I recognized @ that moment, that I had this sense of intensity that needed to go away. I made a conscious effort right then & there to ..... slooooooow dowwwwnnn, I no longer had time restrictions. It was sooooo freeing!

Good luck in your retirement. I hope you have a sweet life.

Congrats on your retirement. I hope you enjoy it to the fullest.

Beeohio, I will remember your comment for the far, far off future.

Congratulations. Nothing beats retirement.

You'll enjoy it...just relax for a while, enjoy being able to shop in the afternoons and on week days.

Some suggestions...develop a daily "semi-routine". and especially a weekly one--do certain things on certain days (it helps me, anyway, to remember which day of the week it is).

I've been retired for over two years now....and it feels like it was years ago.

I have a card taped to the wall in front of me. It's the retiree's motto....." I don't want to and I don't have to."
Enjoy.

Congratulations! I'm counting down...about 10 years left. lol.

Congratulations, you will love being retired. Hubby and I have been retired quite a few years now. Love being able to come and go as we please. We worked very hard to get here and love every minute of retirement. You just wait, we always are saying, how did we have time to work. You have a wonderful retirement.

Congrats!!

Within a week of retiring my dad showed up unannounced at my house (it's a 45 minute drive) because he was bored. It took him a couple months but he's found plenty to do at home now! It just takes a while... it's a big change.

Congratulations! Retirement is a big change. It'll take about a year before you become accustomed to it.

The first thing you'll notice is not having to plow through the rush hour traffic twice a day. You'll find that is a big relief and a savings. You now can plan to make shopping trips during the lesser traffic times.

I'm very happy for you! Even if it takes awhile to adjust to retirement mode, you are sure to enjoy it.

In about a year and a half, I'll join the club!

Congratulations!! Best of Luck!! Enjoy in good health.

Congratulations! I've been retired almost seven years and I love it!

Thanks everyone. Lot of good suggestions here. I hope to get a routine going here starting on Monday.

Linda

Enjoy yourself, now every day is a weekend!

Congratulations. The days will go by so fast and you won't get as much done as you thought you would,BUT enjoy the ride. You deserve it.
I love it,we do as we please, when we please, and if i want to sleep in,i do.

Congratulations. I've enjoyed my 12 years of retirement and hoping for many more. The hardest part initially was realizing how much of my identity was wrapped in what I did for a living. I've re-built my new identity but it did take a year or so to let go.

congratulations! woohoo!
I hope that we can retire sometime!

OT: Lindakathy -- Your retiree's motto reminded me of what a friend said of her puppy's attitude when taken out at night to do her business. "I won't do it, and you can't make me!"

Hi Lindyluwho ... not saying, "boo-hoo" ...

... best wishes for a really fulfilling retirement.

I'm sure that you'll find so many interesting things to keep you busy ... that, as some have said, they don't know where they ever found time to go to work.

And ... memo to those of you who have a long time to go before retiring.

When's the best time (no, a really good time) to start planning for and working toward your retirement?

The day that you start work. The dollars that you save and invest then have a log time to work ... and grow ... to double.

When's the best time to start working toward the retirement day? The day you're born (or soon after).

ole joyful

Enjoy every moment
