Comments (3)If you go to one corn plant per square foot, you should be alright, assuming your soil is optimally fertile. As to your sun exposure, it depends on how tall your corn plants are. Most tomato plants will get around six feet tall, some will get even higher. If your corn plants are not taller than that, then each crop will effectively get only half a day of sun. If you have another bed, it might be better to move the tomatoes to the left side of that bed and then plant something shorter on the right side of both beds. Suggestions would be squash, cucumbers, bush beans, or herbs....See MorePlease help me find something to put on my bed! pic overload
Comments (18)Ok, let's look at your lovely inspiration pix. If you like the pale blue drapes, try to find some similarly sleek panels. Blue is tranquil, looks great year round, and picks up the lake tones. While I like blue, I prefer a warmer tone in my master so I've gone in another direction, but you need to feel good in your room. In the inspiration pix, they seem to have echoed the blue with a slightly greyer tone on two regular pillows and two shams. A muted toile adds more interest on the duvet. Two cream pillow cases add pop. A taupey matelasse picks up the carpet color and carries it to the bed. Easy enough to duplicate without a package! I do like the first blue and chocolate package as well as most of the packages though I'm no as fond on the green/cream/chocolate or the last similar blue package. I'd just add a bit of punch with a fun pillow or two if you go the package route. Your current satin and all but one of the pictures you posted have a more tailored feeling than the inspiration photo. The textures stop them from feeling formal, but they are far more structured, so think about which look feels right to you and go for it. Can't see if you have matching lamps and don't know if you really love the scrollwork. If not, maybe pick up lamps with a simpler line and large drum or rectangular shades if that appeals to you. If you want to keep your lamp(s), try a larger shade for more oomph....See MoreNeed help with ideas on quilting my quilt
Comments (15)I rarely draw patterns on a quilt so it was done freehand. It's really no different than your single strand "Pothos", which is also easy to do freehand. Now that you've got the feel for how a vine is made, try doing some samples without your paper pattern and see what happens. Then try this: go to the picture of my vines again and take your finger and start following the vine around--I think you'll begin to see how I traveled around to fill the space. I think that what prevents folks from trying freehand designs is that we get locked into the idea that every motif in a design should be exactly the same as every other motif and sometimes that's true, as in a formal feathered wreath, for instance (I do use a drawn pattern for that sort of thing). However, in nature leaves, feathers, flowers, spirals, etc. come in an infinite variety of shapes and sizes even on one plant. The way I see it, this variation is what gives a quilting design interest and character. A machine can replicate an image perfectly over and over, but where's the fun in that? I'm currently adding big, swooping free-form feathering to the wide borders on a client's quilt. I'll try to get some pictures with my computer when I'm done, or will try my scanner if that doesn't work. I've got to get a new camera SOON! Comments (40)I have one very similar, in a very pale green. I got it at ABC Carpet and Home in NYC, albeit maybe 10 yrs ago, if that helps at all. It has a great weight to it and yes, it was expensive. Maybe google "silk tasseled damask throw". Try Frette, Sferra, Peacock Alley, Yves Delormes, Bella Notte and/or places that carry them. Since the current look is more minimalist, you may be better off having one made. Damask on one side, silk on the other, with tassels. Sometimes called a bedscarf. Even Calico Corners could do that... you might even get lucky with a remnant....See MoreAnnie Deighnaugh
