In 1967 we (class of about 70) went by bus to Pensacola, Florida. It's probably never been the same! LOL

Our senior trip was a daytrip to some resort in northern MN, one of the activities was a horseback ride. My horse got too close to the one ahead of me, so the one in front kicked and hit my ankle. It bothered me for years. But the trip was a big deal to me, cause we never had money to go anywhere when I was a kid.

IF we had a 'senior trip' it was a movie day at a theatre. I remember going with my classmates and we almost got kicked out cause some were misbehaving. Not sure if it was a senior trip or something else.

Myself and 2 girlfriends went to Hawaii right after we graduated. My class did a trip to Mexico but we opted for a more subdued, relaxing trip to Hawaii instead.

No "senior trip," because our class was more than 700 students of various economic and social standings. Our A Capella choir did go to Seattle to participate in some national hoohaw. We tied for first! And got a full week off from school!

The trip was fun, with stops at various schools along the way for assemblies and joining in with other choirs. As it was the first time many of us had been away from home and parents, there were some questionable happenings..but nothing serious. This was the 50's, after all.

Boy were those choir robes ripe by the time we got home!

Well, we girls did have to go on a Retreat for a few days!!!!!! I think we drove the Nuns nuts! LOL

Yes, in 1967 we had a Senior trip, I can't remember the name of the place but it was like a camp with swimming, horseback ridding and horseshoes etc... I believe it was in Flanders N.J. we all had a good time.

Yes, in 1962 we left Illinois, went to Lexington, Ky first night. On to North Carolina, then to Washington DC for two days, on to New York City for three days, up to Niagara Falls to Canada. Came back into US in Detroit. To Chicago and then home to central Illinois. We were gone 10 days. We were on a chartered bus. I think about twenty or so of us with three adults.

Did go with band, sometime in high school, to New York, and marched in a parade.

Our class went to the Ozarks for a few days.

Our 8th grade trip was the best though. Our Principal was a great guy. He was young, energetic and we all loved him. He made arrangements for our 8th grade day trip but wouldn't tell us where we were going. He had made arrangements for our class to tour one of the State Prisons that was about 3 hours away. We were in shock, scared, creeped out, but loved it. It must have made an impression on us because not one person in our class ever went to prison and as far as I know were never even arrested. That's a good record for the late 60's. :)

No, there was nothing like that offered at our high school.

Class of '78. Wildwood New Jersey was the place to go and I did. Had alot of fun renting a house with all my (then) friends and partying. Oh, the good old days.

Class of '59.....spent 6 days in NYC....supt said we had enough money left over so we did an impromptu day trip to Washington, DC. I still can't believe that our group of seniors were more or less let loose in NYC. We had to check in with supt and other chaperone a few times a day, but we could and did wander all over by ourselves for hours at a time.

There were no senior trips at my high school. Most classes were around 300+. I think it depends on the size of the class and town you're in.

Band trips were taken though!

We went to the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz for my senior trip. I was just there a couple of weekends ago and it brought back a lot of memories. That was a fun time!

Class of '89, and we went to Cancun, Mexico.

Of course, this high school was in a *very* affluent area (and my family while comfortable was not nearly in the same league) and I remember that if you had been active in class activities (volunteering at Homecoming, being active in the community, etc) that you got a significant discount.

None of my close friends went, so I felt like a bit of an outsider (remember, these were affluent snobs) but I wouldn't trade the memories for the world. Was a great time, and something that I'll probably never get to do again.

My class went to DC from Georgia. Many things were done all year for fundraising for the trip. Now my pity party. I graduated very young (14) and was not allowed to go. That is one reason I am so opposed to allowing kids to skip grades. I have always felt I missed so much high school 'fun' like prom, football games, homecoming etc. I know that now they have gifted programs and it is different. I think it was a high scool trip that Natallie Hollaway was on in Aruba.

This was in 1942. I don't remember how many went, but it was a large group. My high school was in Arlington, VA and our trip was to Williamsburg and Jamestown, over night.

On the return trip we stopped in Richmond for lunch. We were left on our own and told to be back at the bus at a certain time. As two of my best friends and I were waiting for a light to change so we could cross the street in the downtown area, we were talking about where we might find a good place to have lunch. A voice from behind us said "We can show you a good place." We turned and saw 2 GIs. We all went to a little restaurant and talked and exchanged names and addresses. Fast forward to 1944 when I married "The cutest GI in the whole US Army!!

We were married for 38 years when cancer took him from us.

Yes class of '73' went to New Orleans. All through high school every class would do fund raising or work for money to pay for their Senior class trips.

Yes, all through the upper grades your class had fund raisers to get money enough for the trip. We had two teachers go with us a man and a woman to see that we were all okay. There were planned things to do each day. One evening I was allowed to go with my married cousin to go to their appartment and visit with them and their little baby. He picked me up at our hotel. My husband too had a senior trip. He was from a different school and went to the same places that we did though, but at a different time. His class was larger than mine.

Yes, we went from NV to CA. First to Marineland, then to Disneyland for Grad Night: The Commodores, KC and the Sunshine Band,...can't remember who else was there. The next morning we stopped in Huntington Beach for a little bit.

Not really. Our school always did that, but a few years before our graduation, a class did something that got them in trouble....probably involved drinking...Quakers...a no no, and they stopped having them. We did have a class party in Matagorda, at a classmate's beach house, but it wasn't school sanctioned.

No such programs were available in my high school. When I taught in Maryland, they took great senior trips from Walt Whitman High School. I remember one year they went to Russia, and another to Israel.

Class of '73. We went from Decatur, NE to Denver, CO. We took a bus to Omaha then a train to Denver, where we stayed a week. There were about 22 or 23 of us in the class and all but 1 or 2 went. We worked for months, selling things, washing cars, all kinds of class projects, to earn money for the trip.

No, it wasn't the tradition at my school. In fact, between grammar school (grades 1-3) and high school we didn't even go on field trips. We never went anywhere between 4th and 9th grade. In grammar school once we visited the local airport and television station next door to it and another day we went to dairy farm and had a picnic at the state park. In high school my French class went to NYC twice and Philly once. Those are the only trips I recall all through my school years.

I had the choice of either going to Hawaii on my class trip or going to England to visit my brother. I went to England because I thought..when would I ever get to do this kind of trip again? I also thought I could go to Hawaii anytime. 29 years later...I'm still waiting to go to Hawaii.

No. Senior skip day was about the extent of any trip and even skip day did not bring the class together. We all went off with our various friends. I can say that my daughter just graduated from the same high school They now do an overnight trip but that's it. Even that is hard for the kids to pay for.

Graduation Ceremonies that I was positive didn't go

No, class of 1955...I was pretty much like Molly109, we had close to 600 kids and I really didn't know any of them....BUT, I did go on a trip....DH and I eloped when I was a senior and went to Niagra Falls for the weekend after my senior prom...

I think there was a senior trip planned but don't remember where. That was way back in 1970! But I wouldn't have gone anyway because my parents would never have paid for such a thing. I always find it amazing when I hear about parents paying for a kid's graduation trip to Europe. It never would have occurred to my parents to do such a thing. I even had to put myself through college and grad school. And they had the money.

I forgot to say that I graduated in 1980. I think I paid the couple hundred dollars myself. I was working at the time.

One of my best friends who graduated in VA went with her class to Cancun, Mexico. She graduated 2 years after me and her parents paid thousands for her to go! Now kids go to Europe and Aruba. They also have more elborate proms, only a few "rich" kids had limos back when I was in high school. Now everyone gets one. I'm dreading the day when Lauren starts going to proms. I've already told her she'll be wearing the same dress to all of them or we'll be buying them used and cheap. And no limo.

In 1964, our class from a rural area of Michigan went to Washington DC, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, New York city, and Niagara Falls. We came back to Michigan through Ontario.

The following year, my sister's class took the same trip.

I remember in 1956, my oldest sister's class visited Washington DC, and in 1959, my other sister's class went to New York.

I have no idea if that high school still has a senior trip. I'm not in contact with anyone who still lives there.

When we had our senior trip, it was paid for by our class, no parents had to pay anything, just some spending money if the kids wanted it.
