My 13 yo niece who lives with us loves country music. She and a friend from across the street are going to watch it. They've been planning on this for a week. I stopped at the store today to let her pick up a few snacks to eat while watching it and stopped by Pizza Hut to get them a pizza for supper. She is so excited.

I've seen the couple you are speaking of. I think they are such a sweet couple and I like their singing.

Unless I watch another movie I rented, I'll watch some, but will be switching back and forth. I find it hard to watch all of the CMA like I used to...so many I don't care for these days.

If I time it right, perhaps I can catch Joey and Rory. :)

Sorry I turned the show on just to hear several tacky opening remarks made by Miss Reva...geeze...no class! Couldn't find the remote fast enough.

I just saw Joey and Rory. They were up for top duo but they had very stiff competition. Sugarland won.

I've been watching in between phone calls and other interruptions. Is the Julianne who won New Entertainer of the Year the same one who used to dance on Dancing With the Stars? That little bit they played of her song certainly sounded like a country singer, but she doesn't talk that way. She's very pretty!

Have I missed Carrie Underwood? And is Kellie Pickler scheduled to sing?

What did Reba say that was offensive?

Oops--I just answered one of them. I didn't miss Carrie Underwood; she's on now. What a dress! It's gorgeous, but I can see why she described it as "lava." :-)

I watched it. I can't wait for the day when everyone realizes that Taylor Swift CANNOT SING, when her teenage novelty wears off and she just goes away making room for someone that actually has talent. Her part in the opening number was actually painful.

George Strait is amazing. THAT is a singer.

I'm with you sue36, she isn't a great singer. However, she is a talented songwriter, but that's about it.

We're hoping that Eric Church gets recognized again...he's a great performer!

Well, if you ask the teenage boys that hang around here, Taylor Swift could stand up there and burp her song and they wouldn't care.

Watched the last 3 or 4 minutes of the show only because it ran over into news time. To me, what is called "country" today is not "country". It is just all noise by a bunch of singers who all sound alike. George Strait is the only one that still can do the old stuff and apparently his reign is over.

Thank you Gazania....this is the old curmudgeon speaking...what they call Country today, is just Pop, with anew title. I listen to classic country all the time and I can recognize those singers because they didn't all sound alike, not to mention look alike. Today's so-called female country singers all look the same....skinny, long blond hair, dressed like a hooker. The guys look alike as well, shaggy hair, unshaven, and sloppily dressed. I tried to watch a little of the award show, the only thing that impressed me was when the Service man came on, in the wheel chair, and the standing ovation he received, and the heartfelt song, by Trace Atkins. That brought tears to my eyes. Dottie

I love Kelli Pickler but she just looked funny last night. I think it was her eye brows. I'm not sure. lol

Love Carrie Underwood. She seems so classy and I love all of her songs.

I was glad to see Trace Adkins win. I really like him and his performance last night was very touching.
