I've had a hand in delivering a beautiful baby!! Only this time, it's my grandson, and I didn't deliver him, but coached his mom to do so! lol

Came into this world this morning at 6:45am weighing 8lb 1 oz. He's having trouble breathing, so they whisked him away to the NICU without measuring him, but I'd say no more than 18". We've not even been able to hold him ;(

So, Gigi's tired now and needs a nap (we were up all night), but welcomes to this world, Michael Kevin!!!

Linda, maybe a drop scone would be easy, no cupcake tin needed. Cinnamon Bun Scones 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup Quaker® Oats (Quick or Old Fashioned, uncooked) 1/2 CUP granulated sugar 1 tablespoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 8 tablespoons butter or margarine, chilled and cut into pieces 3/4 cup whole or 2% milk 1 egg, lightly beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 cup toasted, chopped pecans 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon GLAZE 3/4 cup powdered sugar 3 teaspoons orange juice or milk, or as needed Recipe DIRECTIONS: Heat oven to 425 degrees F. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray. In large bowl, combine flour, oats, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, baking powder and salt; mix well. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In small bowl, combine milk, egg and vanilla; blend well. Add to dry ingredients all at once; stir with fork or rubber spatula until dry ingredients are moistened. In small bowl, combine remaining 2 tablespoons granulated sugar with the pecans and cinnamon; mix well. Sprinkle evenly over dough in bowl; gently stir batter to swirl in cinnamon mixture (Do not blend completely.) Drop dough by 1/4 cupfuls 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire rack; cool 5 minutes. In small bowl, combine powdered sugar and enough orange juice for desired consistency; mix until smooth. Drizzle over top of warm scones. Serve warm. Here's a couple of other ideas... Bonus Muffins 4 bananas, very ripe 1 C. canned pumpkin 3 large eggs 1 C. superfine sugar 1/2 C. brown sugar 2 tsp pure vanilla 1 C. oil 2 1/2 C. unbleached flour 2 C. old fashioned oatmeal 1 T. baking soda 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice 1/4 tsp. sea salt 1 1/2 C. nuts, chopped 1 C. raisins topping Puree bananas and place into a large mixing bowl. Add pumpkin, eggs, sugars and vanilla. Mix well and add oil. Add remaining dry ingredients, mixing until evenly blended. Stir in nuts and raisins. Grease muffin tins and dill 1/2 full with batter. Sprinkle with topping and bake at 350 degrees F. for about 30 minutes or until done. Remove to cool on wire racks. TOPPING\- 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice and 2 tablespoons butter. Mix well until very crumbly. MAPLE-OATMEAL SCONES 2 cups all purpose flour 1/4 cup sugar 2 tsp cream of tartar 3/4 tsp baking soda ½ cup butter ½ cup quick-cooking rolled oats ½ cup B&R Farms Dried Apricots 2 eggs 2 tbsp maple syrup 1 tbsp milk 1 tsp maple syrup 1 tsp milk In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cream of tartar, and baking soda. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in rolled oats and B&R Farms dried apricots. Make a well in the center of the dry mixture. In a small mixing bowl, combine eggs, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, and 1 tablespoon milk. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and stir just until moistened. Form dough into a ball (dough may be sticky.) Transfer dough to a cookie sheet. Roll or pat with lightly floured hands into a circle, 3/4 inch thick and about 7 inches in diameter. Cut into 6 to 8 wedges (do not separate wedges). Brush scones with mixture of 1 teaspoon maple syrup and 1 teaspoon milk. Bake in 400 degree oven for 15 minutes or until golden. Serve warm, with additional maple syrup, if desired. Makes 6 to 8 scones. I also have a recipe for Carrot Bread that I've made for years and when we had the deli I made big batched of. If DD doesn't have room for them but she wants you to keep them, can she pay for the storage space? (and arrange it, too!) I have so many pictures of my own that I have actually stopped TAKING them. I think I should take them more, but since every one I *have* taken is still in the little paper envelope and stuffed into a box or on a shelf, I just can't see the point anymore. It's sort of depressing. And I'd tackle them, but that means a big upheaval, and there are other more important things to deal w/ now. I's frustrating, isn't it, when people think *you*, bcs you're the mom or the one w/ the house, or whatever, insist YOU should keep stuff THEY want? Honestly, someone's willingness to bother is evidence of how much they REALLY care. If DD or DM REALLY want those photos, they'll find a way to store them. If they're not willing to stuff them under their bed, or line THEIR living room w/ them, then honestly they don't REALLY want them. So don't have any guilt at telling them they've got 2 months to get the ones they want, and then you're throwing them out or giiving them back or dropping them off, whichever. Good luck!

It's gorgeous!! I think it would be perfect in MY living room. As for the restocking/return fee. A rug is usually a big purchase and what one sees in a photo online can differ vastly from the real thing. Many would never buy a rug online if the price for making a mistake were always so costly. And it's on the vendor too. They post the photos that may not accurately represent what the rug really looks like. It's the price of doing business. I'm more likely to buy from vendors that have a reasonable return policy.

Well, Michael is doing a little bit better with his oxygen rates; they've been able to down the oxygen to 25% (from 40%). But they've put him on a cpap machine as well.

In addition to that, tonight's blood work shows an infection. (They're not quite calling it pneumonia). So he's on two general antibiotics, and he's facing 5-7 days in the nicu.

We know that this is the best place for him to be, but my heart breaks that DIL can't even hold her baby and may be leaving the hospital without him. In addition to that, there is no health insurance for any of them...prayers might be good right now.

Wanda, what's funny is that Michael is named after DH, and 'Kevin' is my ex-husband's name... lol

it is very hard to leave your baby at the hospital. i'm praying for the whole family, for peace for the parents (and grandma) and healing for beautiful michael kevin.

Congrats Grandma...he's a cutie!

My niece had to leave her premie in the hospital for several weeks...difficult-yes, but close to two years has past and now that little premie has a set of lungs you wouldn't believe...or maybe you would :-)

Things are looking up!

Michael has been breathing on his own since yesterday morning. And as of today, he's off the IV, so is attached to nothing.

He's being kept in the NICU due to the infection, but today's blood work shows that the meds are working well.

DIL went home today, but will be spending days at the hospital so she can nurse and take care of him. Looks like he'll come home on Sunday.

DH was able to see him on Monday, and was able to hold & feed him a bottle. Gigi has not been so lucky as to even hold him yet :( but hope to sometime this weekend before he goes home.

DH's mom has always been called 'Grandma Jean' and I've always been called 'Jen' by my step kids. I didn't want to be 'Grandma Jen' forever so had to come up with something else. Gigi doesn't sound so 'old' ... I'm only 45 after all!

I thought Gigi was the Proud New Mom! hahaha ........Gigi definitely does not sound like Grandma! The little guy is going to call you whatever he wants to and you will love it :)

Was finally able to see/hold Michael today. I went to the hospital with DIL for all his final discharge stuff. He did not like the removal of IV port/needle, the removal of all tape, the last of his antibiotics, or the change of clothes mom put him through.

But I did get to hold him a bit, and help them get out of the hospital!! He's home now and they are doing just fine. I'm now on-call for any urgent, "don't know what to do" phone calls!! lol

My kids can't wait to see & hold him, but since 3 are sick, that'll have to wait a bit longer.
