It's been very busy at home...still here, not MIA

Hi everyone,

Painting the house continues with 2 white base coats everywhere...never ending. Also the snow has finally melted. Experienced 1 week of spring and now enjoying summer temps 1 month early! Wow! So I've been raking lawn in my spare time, tending to my growing seedlings and generally busy from dawn til dusk. If anyone wants to make any comments regarding folk who tend the house while the other works - I'm thinking of maybe getting an office job just so I can physically chill out! Ah, the exercise is good though. So I've been busy right now. Temps are expected to drop in a week down to below normal so I'm doing as much cleaning for yard waste pick-up as possible. It puts me a month ahead of yard work schedule. When the cold spring returns I pick up more indoor jobs to finish. Owning a house is a never ending job I say!

I'm cool, I'm happy and the great news is my sister is finally building Mom's granny suite. Mom is happy with her grandsons all the time and much better health because of no carpeting.

Anyhow, gotta get dinner started for Dave. LOL to all of you.

Finally feel like this is my home and not my family's - such a wonderful, wonderful feeling. It's been years since I've felt such bliss. Now that the snowbanks have disappeared I will resume my driving with hubby. I'll just feed him my prozac a week ahead!

I saw your funny post earlier and wondered where you have been. I'm so glad Mom is doing well. Most of all that you have a "life".

So this is the old timer's thread. My GH is cooking along. Have about 12 carambola ripening on the tree, plus jaboticaba, yellow guava, Surinam Cherries, pomegranates. No bananas this year as I removed Dwarf Cavendish and replaced with Dw Namwah and Dw Red. Hopefully bananas next year. Just got a Sapodilla and a June Plum, but the June Plum suffered greatly in shipping. Hoping it will recover. Just ordered a new RO pump and filters, as the pump burned out. Close call, as it burned out while I was out of town and I got back to find I had just one day of water left. My wife would have been in trouble within a day or two!

Thanks all for warmly welcoming me back :-) Candy, we are now further south and east than before so no, we didn't move closer :-( When Sean's parents came to visit for the first time yesterday, his dad joked that he saw more Kansas license plates than Colorado LOL. The floors are hardwood and are lighter than the laminate floor we had put in the previous house. I was't sure if I'd like that but, they don't show the dirt as much so, I LOVE them now LOL! Jeanne (without an I LOL), I was having some work done on my blog last week which may have caused you to not be able to read it at that time. Could you let me know if it persists so I can get it fixed? Happy to be back friends!! Kath

Karen, I look forward to photos of your Granddaughter. I'm laughing because when I spoke with the decorator for our new digs, I told her that with 7 grandkids and one DD still breeding, every surface has to be cleanable. She agreed that "for the next ten years there will be puke, spills, etc." I quipped, "then I'll start to leak." :)

I did have a birthday!! I can not believe you remembered that. Thank you!!! I promise to be a good girl and not leave my chair for so long again. I really enjoy this forum and everyone here. The East coast is awesome!! I can't believe we have been here for so long. The kids are all out of school and my youngest is doing Basic Training in the Army over in Georgia. Can you believe he was only in 6th grade when we got here? We are so proud of him! I have spent all morning trying to find the best car rental to drive over to see his graduation. Two weeks and he will then go onto Airborne School. His training should keep him stateside for at least the rest of this year. We still have most of the fur kids. Two of our oldest cats have gone over the Rainbow Bridge in the last few months. I am dreading the coming year as most of our animals all seem to be roughly the same ages. Every one is in good health so maybe they will stay that way! Our oldest dog is getting slower though. Trish

I've been wondering how you've been doing, Peg, but didn't want to pry. I'm very glad to hear how well things are going for you, and that your mother's living situation has turned out to be a good one for all involved. Enjoy puttering around your house and garden!

Thank you everyone! What do you want on the BBQ? Steak, pork chops, veggie burgers and beverage - beer, pop, cocktails? Yep still working and enjoying life. Thank you for sticking with me through all of this and for all of your support - it has meant the WORLD to me.
