Ammo- a box of .223 shells was $56.47 last June. Now it's $76.87 now! It is expected to go up another 15% by May 1.

A motorcycle tire we buy frequently was 98.39 (wholesale) last week. Today same tire came in at 122.30. Retail price is still the same.

Just got my monthly stock up of groceries today. Food in general, but especially meats were all a lot more today.

At our local grocery store, it seems like the price on every thing has gone up. Now it is to be expected because of transportation costs, fuel ect. But the price has gone up abt 50 cents per item in the store. Multiply that by the hundreds of items in the store, and I think the owners are using the rise in the economy rip people off. They are the only grocery store for three towns around, so they have us at their mercy. I wish I could shop regularly at the Walmart, but it is about 25 miles one way, away. Dottie

My haircut last week went up again.. $27.00 and no wash or blow dry. I noticed everything I buy at Walmart is more expensive.. I have my "same" items I get all the time and they are all more. I noticed stores are less busy, along w/ restaurants. It's funny because when I mentioned that to my girlfriend that I thought the stores were quieter she said even the coffee shop she goes to Sunday a.m. is less busy... It is effecting everyone...

eggs. they haven't been on sale in the longest time and the price just keeps getting higher. that's the one that's been affecting me.

I like WalMarts Key Lime sparkling water. Was 50 cents, now 58 cents.

I've noticed the milk and eggs have gone up too. Apples and grapes are about $.50/lb higher. I've noticed that my local chain grocery store is having better prices and quality on some items than Wal-Mart. You can't hardly find any generics at Wal-Mart any more. At the local chain I picked up three dozen eggs the other day clearance priced at $.50/dozen. Nice red, yellow, and orange bell peppers were $.50 apiece. Apples were about the same price as Wal-Mart, but better quality.

Eggs are so expensive at the grocery store aren't they? I went to the egg farm and bought a flat of jumbos for the price of a dozen at Safeway. And milk is higher than I ever have seen it. I asked the store manager why they are so high, and he said it's the cost of transporting food in refrigerated trucks Is the price of gas doubling prices? Wow...Kathy

Groceries and WalMart items are higher. A newspaper article today stated that Iowas have cut way back on gasoline and the lost revenue in gas taxes is hurting the state budget. I have cut back on my recreational driving.

I have noticed that about Walmart, every week I go, and the price is up!!
This one brand of cat food that I use to hide medicine in, last week .77, today .92.
Baby food (chicken, for the cats!) used to be .78, now it's .95.
They used to sell Rice a Roni for .72, now it's 1.18.
And green beans!! .95 cents for a can!! It used to be .50. that one especially killed me.
These are just a few right of the top of my head, I think almost everything was way more than even just last week.
This is crazy.

I use Ol' Roy Lamb and Rice dry dog food (unlike some Ol' Roy products, it has good ingredients). Used to cost $7 and change for a 20 lb. bag. Then it jumped to $9 and change.

Kretchmer's wheat germ is up to $4.99 a jar (large jar). I like fresh produce, especially salad ingredients, and all that's gotten pricier.

But the worst has got to be gasoline, heating oil, and propane. My bills this winter were shocking.

Just about everything is going up!
The last thing I noticed was Iams dogfood. Used to be $9 and now over $10.

Horse and cattle supplement are up $25 a barrel from last month.

Let's don't talk about fuel, okay?

Someone here just did a breakdown on how much a farmer gets out of a dollar (wish I had kept it) and with wheat/grain the highest for a long time ---the farmer gets .13c out of each dollar. Fuel is going to raise prices on food AGAIN, along with the chemicals used to protect the crops.

Went to health club, for water aerobics, gas was $2.15, left hour later, was $2.22.

My DS makes his living driving, with no compensation for gas.
I pray for him.

The wild bird food that I buy to fill my bird feeders was three twenty pounds bags for ten dollars back in 2002. Then it was $4.00 a bag for a long time. Now it is $6.00 a bag. (I guess I completely missed the jump from $4.00 to $5.00 a bag.)

Gosh, the biggest thing we notice is the price of milk.
Gas was up to $3.81 last week but haven't been by the gas stations this week.
We are going to town to do our 99 Cent store shopping and the local FoodMaxx, where you bag your own groceries....lots cheaper than Von's here our little town. Even their prices have gone up, especially on produce, which is produced right here! Next time we drive by the fields maybe I will find an already picked field and pick up some culls.
I told DH we will be like the illegals here....buying 25# of pinto beans and one smoked turkey wing, a 30 pack of tortillas and 25# of rice.

Gas is $3.29 here now. Last week, I bought bananas for the usual 55 cents a pound. Today the same store has bananas for 67 cents a pound. Eggs are 2.49 a dozen and cottage cheese is at least a dollar a carton (24 oz.)more than a few weeks ago. We do get good "special buys" due to the fact that we have 4 major supermarkets in the area and they compete, which is great for the consumer. Bettye/AZ

Groceries hurt me the most. I went to Aldi's Sunday and bought bags of dry beans. It is the cheapest protein I know of. My hours have been cut at the Doctor's office to 25 a week because doc is gone for an extended period of time. Doubled up working my second job but get paid 4 dollars an hour less. I've been using the Dave Ramsey plan to get out of debt and it was working great but this has put a crimp in my plan. I feel sorry for people poorer than me. The poorer you are the worse it hurts.

Not something that I or anyone would buy often, but I was astounded when I looked over my grocery slip after shopping yesterday. The 1 ounce bottle of red food coloring was $3.19! Next time, that Red Velvet Cake may be just plain brown. Three boxes of my favorite bran cereal came to $14.81. I can't imagine how families with children are going to keep up.

Gee, what hasn't gone up? It's actually reached the point where I'm noticing which groceries don't cost more, not which ones do since just about all of them now cost more. I think washing soda was something that I noticed had not gone up yet in price but that was last week.

Yes the prices on everything seem to be increasing daily. Last week when I filled up the Jeep fuel was $3.24. This morning it is $3.34. Fuel prices are killing us. DH has to commute 200 miles a day until October. His little car gets good mileage but geez!!!

I try to keep a veggie garden going all the time. It helps a bit. We eat lots of veggies. If I had the room I would also keep chickens and maybe raise a hog or two.

Food, gas, utilities. The necessities. College tuition. My wonderful, awesome, DD will start college in the fall. It has really been hard to put money back and now it is even harder.

I keep telling my husband to let me have chickens..I go through about 3 dozen eggs every two weeks and that's only if I "bake" a little, not alot..and we eat alot of eggs with a family of 5.

Picked up cage free eggs lastnight.. 3.49 dozen for large.
Have to go buy milk today..almost $6 a gallon for organic... bought organic apples lastnight 2.19 lb for red's..other's were 2.69 - 2.99.
Sure I could go back to less organic and humane..but....

at the moment..it's worth it to my family.

I quit looking at prices. If I need gas I buy it, same at the grocery store. No sense stressing myself out over it.
It is what it is and I'm not going to change what I do or buy.
I feel sorry for families with kids tho. Must really be hard on them to have such increases in prices of food.

I have to look at prices, since we are on a budget. It's not about stressing over it. We've got 3 teenagers who are eating us out of house and home!

Fortunately, I don't drive much except to go to work and back (not far). When we do errands, we use my DH's little truck that gets better gas mileage.

We buy our bread at the bakery outlet and save a lot of $$$.

We don't hire someone else to clean our house or tend to our yard. We do it ourselves.

We do most of our grocery shopping at a warehouse, but even there we have to pay attention.

We look at the ads for meat.

I work PT in an upscale women's clothing store and we've been hurting. People are thinking twice before spending so much money on clothes. In fact, we've had a lot of returns lately, some from last summer!
