Why is it that we all have ugly fabric? How does this happen to us?

You know how when you walk into a fabric shop and all the bolts start calling your name. While those lovely batiks are wooing us the ugly fabrics sneak up while we are momentarily blinded and jump into the pile of bolts in our shopping cart. Then we think "well, I must have put it there for a purpose" and get a yard of it. Then 2 years later when we are tired of looking at it we think "what was I thinking, I gotta send this to grammyp".

I will see if I have something in my stash, but I might have gotten rid of all my OMG what was I thinking!!! BUT, please promise to post a picture of the project with close-ups, hey - why don't you post each one and we can have a vote on which one is the butt-ugliest and whoever sent in the winner will get something - nothing that costs anything, but maybe like some kind of funny award or a special group poem or essay about how ugly this fabric is, etc.???

I worked in a quilt store for 10 years and one year we had an ugly quilt contest.We chose the what we thought was the ugliest bolt of fabric in the store,gave it a prominient place standing on the counter and encouraged our quilters to buy some of it and make a block.When all the blocks were in we pinned them to a big piece of felt and displayed them.Customers voted on what they thought was the most creative,and best use of the fabric.The winner of the contest wn all the blocks.It was a lot of fun ,we got a lot of laughs and comments.But it was very interesting to see what people can and will do in a challenge.

Thank you so much for your donations everyone. I like the idea of voting for the ugliest fabric. If I have enough fabric I will gladly make an extra block and donate it to the winner. When all fabrics are received I will post pictures with no names attached and everyone can vote.

How big is a fat 1/8th? I am sure i have ugly fabric....and i love your post about being blinded and buying the ugly stuff....too funny.......weird how that has happened to me too.....LOL!

A fat 1/8th is about 9x18. What I will need are pieces about 5 inches wide, so any scraps at least 5x5 should work. Sent you an e-mail, thanks for looking.
