Look where my daughter was today!!!

Here's a picture of my daughter with the CEO and some other executives from her company. Today they actually met with a Presidential aide in the Executive Office Bldg. She's such a tiny little thing but has a very big brain. LOL

Woozer! Have you had a chance to talk to her since? Don't ever underestimate short people!! (Speaking from experience.) Can't wait to hear what she had to say about the experience!!

It might help you to also do a search for 'birdcage bed'. It is a lot of money, and I wonder how soon the novelty will wear off. She is already 12 - will it be cool at 15? As an alternative, you might just get a cool metal bed frame (headboard and footboard) and then ceiling mount curtain rods and hang fabric from those at the four corners of the bed that she can pull closed on all sides and create her own private space. Or make a center round wooden plaque that you paint and then staple fabric to that to create draping, using towel rings at the four corners to drape the fabric through to kind of mimic the birdcage bed swag. Good luck!

My Daughter Was In A Car Accident Today...
Q

I'm sorry to hear that--it's devastating for them when they have that car they love and it gets banged up. Please have her be very aware of her health for the next few weeks. When DD was in an accident some years back, she went to the hospital, was checked out and X-rayed, was fine that night. But within 2 weeks, she developed a back problem that's going to give her pain and problems the rest of her life. My second suggestion is to do what we did. Turn the whole thing over to your attorney. Don't talk to your insurance (other than to alert them that there WAS an accident), don't negociate with the other fellow's insurance, don't deal with the medical bills--just let your lawyer do all that. If your lawyer is any good at all, your daughter will come out way ahead, even after his fee--I know my dd did quite well (although, no amount of money can ever compensate one for a lifetime--well, 50-70 years--of pain). But the last headache your daughter needs right now, is having to deal with insurance companies--encourage her to let a professional handle it for her.

My city won't let you put it anywhere but THERE!!! It is taking up all of this space and I am trying to hide it. My other one (that the contractor threw out) was so much smaller. It is because it is heating and air conditioning I think. I just bought my furnace a few years ago, but because of the foundation it would have cost a fortune to put the vents, wires and everything in for a smaller one. I think they should at least paint them with camouflage so they look like part of the garden. Or have someone paint it Trompe-l'œil or make it look like a bush. There is only to fence around it or plant around it I guess. Why isn't anything simple? lol

Tornado in my daughter’s town
Q

I'm also late to this topic and Jilly, big hugs to you and your family. Has your daughter checked out storm shelters, maybe paying a monthly amount? I wonder if they're cheaper in the off season which should be any day now, you'd think. This May is the first time we've been in our cellar in years. I can't even think when we were last down there & this month OK had so many tornadoes it's unbelievable. So far we had one a few miles past us which I took a photo of, two weeks ago there was one about 4 miles away coming straight towards us then it lifted, and a few days later there was a tornado one mile south of us. Had it moved one mile north which their movement is generally NE, no telling what would have happened. All of them at night! And more tonight, tomorrow night and on and on. The only plus is I found my favorite water bottle that'd been missing for a few years. :) BTW, I saw a trailer for the new Twister movie which was filmed in my area, and it was THE stupidest thing ever. All these people were at a rodeo in OK when a twister suddenly hits. Oklahomans are weather aware & we close shop early if we know bad storms will arrive within hours, and no way no how would anyone go to a rodeo. Right, Ollie? :)

Well, that's exciting!! She's tiny, but very pretty! My DD is a lot smaller than I (5'3"), but I'm guessing she's probably taller than your daughter.

I have a small daughter too, and she got her short stature from her paternal grandmother. The women in my family are all tall.

One day you're *outside* the White House. Next day you could be living there! Our country needs more 'big brains', especially female ones.

I talked to her this evening. She said that it was a real thrill to be there, that the interior of the building is beautiful and very impressive, and that the meeting did not go as well as they had hoped. She is 4'11" and adopted.

By the looks of the big smiles on everyone's face ...

... perhaps the meeting didn't go too badly.

Good wishes to your daughter. I hope that she goes a long way in life, and helps make life better for many.
