I love it... can you show us your DR please?

Here are some older pics right after we got the floor installed and moved the furniture in. I have an original reproduction (oil on canvas) of Rembrandt's The Jewish Bride I want to hang there - I was thinking maybe one over each of the electrical boxes where the sconces were supposed to go (since they're centered on the room and the chandy isn't)? You can see the box/hole that's placed wrong in the first picture.

I can move The Bride over to the wall behind the head of the table - right now it's covering a 3rd sconce location. The Renoir is also in a gold frame - wider than this but I think I could put them next to each other?

I went back for it! Please tell me it was worth $58 (after tax)!

Looks like the frame alone was worth $58. She looks a bit like your little girl, doesn't she? I think it is a nice buy and will look good wherever you hang it.

The frame is a little banged up but some gold or dark red paint like already is under the gold, and I think it will be fine - good thing it's already distressed. Someone took the backing off - I'm going to have to at least stick felt bumpers on the back so staples don't mark the walls (hope they didn't already). It's not staying in this location - what do you think about hanging the two at the head of the table with about 3 ft b/t them? I just don't know if the dark colors of the Rembrandt are going to look muddy next to the white and blue of the Renoir? I just really want to cover the electrical boxes until I can figure out whether to move the chandy to the center of the room or move the one sconce so the chandy is centered b/t them (builder error I didn't catch until we moved the table in a year later!).

There is a small resemblance to my AJ - except my dear child has hazel eyes and the portrait ("Lucy"?) has blue eyes. Maybe slightly different hair color too?

Oh well, if I can't find a place for it, there's always CL! I'm sure I can get my $ back.

She's a ham, she tries too hard. And the hair! I can't do a thing with it. Hopefully the school picture came out better.

She is precious - every night when I put her to bed, she thinks up a special hug to give me. Her older brother has to accept a hug (which he does gracefully, at bedtime only, and no kisses!), but she always has a special hug for me after her bedtime story. Tonight Papa took the kids fishing before dinner, she caught 4 fish (and the men caught none), so she gave me a "splashy, flippy floppy trout" hug b/c one almost flopped out of the bucket!

ajsmama, I love the picture and feel it look nice in your dining room. Your daughter, AJ, is adorable. I had always wanted a daughter to be the mother my mom was to me. I still love your dining room chairs (are the same as mine that I love to) and your beautiful Brazilian Cherry floors.

Can you try the pretty pic on the blue wall with some candle sconces maybe? That would be a lovely feature on your wall...

All the walls are green, the back wall is just a darker green (my pre-GW attempt to make the room look bigger!). I was originally going to put the oil painting at the head of the table, but then after we (finally! a year later) got the floor and the furniture in, I realized that

1) the sconce on the left is 6" closer to the other one than I had specified - so they're centered on wall, not the chandy. If I move the table to be centered b/t the sconces, the chandy will be off-center (and it'll be tighter to pull a chair back w/o hitting the china cabinet).

2) You can't really see anything placed b/t the sconces b/c the chandy is in the way when you're looking from the other end of the room.

So I was wondering if I just give up on my long-held plans for chandy on a dimmer and lighting the walls with sconces, just put pictures over (all 3? incl. where it's hanging now?) sconce locations? At least you'd be able to see part of each picture on the back wall (to either side of chandy) when walking into the room?
