Mom is back in the hospital

Again. She is having even more trouble with almost passing out. They keep telling us that it's not her heart. She had a different cardiologist this morning taking weekend rounds. She really liked him. He also said he doesnt' think its her heart, but he wants to study it some. He said it might even be her thyroid. He isn't sure, but he is supposedly going to look into it. Finally, someone who is willing to dig a little deeper. Her family dr is good, but he doesn't like to get into the specialty areas, so sends her to see who he thinks will do her the most good. He keeps thinking heart. But maybe this other guy will finally figure out the problem. Please keep her in your thoughts. This is what I came home to last night!

Also, we found out this morning that her brother has been moved to hospice and probably won't live thru the week. All and any prayers appreciated. Thanks

March 31 will be 5 weeks. Grandmother did have one bad day last Tuesday, her fever was 104.5 (that is not a typo) I thought her brain was cooking! It took for ever for them to get her some tynenol. Then when she did get it 2 hours later it was huge pills that she could not swallow so then they sent back for liquid. That was bad I did not like seeing her that way. After she got the medicine, she was fine. She has some conjestion now, but no pneumonia no other change except she is just weeker. I stayed Sunday night. She was up every 30 to 45 min. from the bed , to chair, to potty. Around 3:30 to 4:30 am she did sleep or I guess I did and just did not hear her. Mama came in at around 11:30 am to change the shift. She had my son with her because school is out this week so for me to stay she had to keep him. I took my son home who is 9 so he is no trouble at all. I fell on the couch at 12:30 and did not wake up until 5:00 because I had to potty. I told Mama this morning that she is just going to have to leave her some times. THis is not living for either Grandmother or Mama. Mama's sister did stay some last week but It does not help much. The sister works, she will get to the hosptal around 9:00 or 10:00 pm and Mama has to be back at 7:00 am so the sister can go to work. So then Mama stays all of that day and night until someone else can stay. I told Mama she needs to get tuff with Grandma, the only thing the nurses have to do is give her drugs. We give Grandmother her bath, change her sheets, get her ice, drink, get her to the potty, etc. SHe will not eat so she can not go home and the Dr said unless the insurance starts to make waves she will not go home unless she starts to eat.

Sands, I'm in a motel in Detroit and I leave for Texas early tomorrow morning, but your mom will be in my thoughts and prayers. C'mom Mom, get well and get out of there, I want to see those pictures! Hi all, Dang, my life just needs to SLOW down. Dh is doing well but Sunday morning he woke up and it was plain to see that the depression had hit him like a ton of bricks. Mind you that is even a bit funny since he is a shrink and knew it could happen but did not think it would happen to HIM! With lots of TLC he is feeling better and the last of the site pain is better. Which is good since I am searching the calender for a good day to pencil in my breakdown ;-) Thanks for all the nice comments.. I do my best to keep up and keep moving and that is a great help with the Lupus symptoms. You know the funny part was that for years no one caught it that it was the *L* that I was dealing with. It was only after the death of one of our children that one doc started to piece things toghter. Mind you.. once all the facts were together it was pretty plain and it turns out I had been flaring since I was in about 8th grade!! .. such is life. I always figure that there are others with less than me and more hardship so I need to suck it up and get on with life and walk this earth to help others. I finked out tonight on the dinner thing and just got salads from a local deli since I was tired.. but I am still looking at new ways to eat... funny really since I have been actually DREAMING about Holandaise sauce!!!! Personally I think social services should take all the children put in foster homes and she should be investigated where the money is coming from and it should be put in a trust to pay bills and for the children. She should get nothing. Sorry, the press should give her no publicity. too many of the children and families in this country who really try to make it are getting nothing. Thousands are really struggling, low paying jobs, no medical and those who need help. Not this person who does nothing, even does not take care of her children at home. Just makes me MAD.

Tami...ask her Dr if maybe she's having silent siezures. My mother had them, she would just seem to pass out, but not all the way. Assisted living would call 911, send her to ER, and she would come to on her own, with no ill effects. Her neurologist called it silent siezures.

Sending good thoughts for your Mom and your uncle.

Make sure they check the thyroid antibodies and not just the TSH, T3 and T4. I can't believe how many doctors I went to before 1 checked the antibodies...everything else was normal for me.

Tami, we're going thru the very same thing with my mom, turns out she has atrial fibrillation and they found it because she had a "spell" while at the doctors and they quick did an EKG on her. Now she's on blood thinners and awaiting the reading of an echocardiogram, to determine if she needs a pacemaker or not. One more week, then we'll know. The waiting is the hardest.

I hope they find out what's wrong with your mother and get her fixed up ASAP. And I am so sorry about your uncle.

Thank you all.

Uncle passed away at 11 pm last night. He is at peace and now will know all of us. He had alzhiemers in addition to other health problems.

Mom had more tests done today. Monica, thanks. Her neurologist didn't find anything. He checked everything he could think of, then told her there were no seizures, and he could not help her at this time. If there were ever anything else he could do for her to please call. I was impressed with him.

Lydia, the cardio she had over the weekend is leaning that way! As I have read all of the thyroid posts, I have wondered about it for some of her other problems. Her dr is still leaning toward heart, but I am hoping that the cardio will get someone to order the thorough thyroids.

Flamingo, I am sorry your mom is going thru this. Mom had a pacemaker put in two years ago because of this. It has stopped her going completely out, but has not stopped it completely.
