Thanks for the responses. Allison - Interesting observation about the height. My ceilings upstairs are low (dormered cape - 88") so 40" would be less than half the height. Either way, it's a small bathroom so I think there's not enough wall to create that split in half look. Enduring - The chair rail I'm considering would only come out about an inch, so I don't think the towels would touch the wall except while actually hanging them, nor would they drape out. If anything, the chair rail will hold the towels off the wall for those top few inches. But I'll definitely take the depth of the bars into consideration when choosing. Mongoct - Good idea with bumping out if needed. I suppose another option would be a surface mounted cabinet, but I'm trying to avoid that. Thanks again.

Once again, my mind is so overloaded my question was not clear. Sorry! This is for the beverage sink. It's at the bar area. Only to fill coffee pot/ espresso machine, to add water to drinks, a place to dump out leftover coffee from the mug before refilling, dump out any leftover ice before refilling, etc. This is not the prep sink. I think I'm going to go with the Brizo Solna's prep faucet, It's 12 1/2 " tall, the faucet is 7" above the deck. I don't need a faucet with a sprayer there, but I'm going with the Brizo Solna Touch (to be released in March) at the prep sink, so they will look good together. Thanks for the feedback. I thought it would look too big. And then I looked at Rohl's website, it is not a prep/bar faucet. It's just a regular kitchen sink. Bee

I am putting an island in my kitchen. I will have 2 levels. At it's widest the island will be 42" deep. The length is 87". The raised section will have a slight curve to allow for seating (though I am going back and forth about not doing a curve and doing straight across for more space - though I like the idea of the softness of the curve....). I will have a prep sink on one end and my mixer lift on the other. Next to the 15" cabinet for the mixer lift I will have 30" base drawers. Since I will be using this area for baking, I am having built into the toe-kick of the 30" cabinet a step I can pull out and stand on while I am rolling dough. My DH insisted on the raised section to allow him to do prep work (he's taller than I am and the raised area is at the perfect height for him to work). I also like the idea of the kids and the water being on different levels. Unfortunately I think this is one aspect of my kitchen I won't know if I like until it is installed, and then as they say, the horse will have left the barn and I will have to learn to live with what I decide..... I don't have to make a decision this minute but very soon.

I suspect the high faucet will cause splashing only because their little hands might be higher than the bowl when they wash. But the faucet wouldn't splash on it's own. As for the shower bar, depends how much room you have and how you envision everyone using it. If it's centered, possibly all you might need, but you have to consider the height range of the bar and get it just right (max high and low levels). Or you can install a separate head above, install the bar underneath, and have no worries about the height meeting everyone's needs. BTW, if you install a diverter, make sure it is reachable for everyone.
