We're the opposite...his gel folded and mine rolled.
Although we both wear while gold toe socks....it's not hard to tell his from mine...his feet are much larger than mine.

I just roll the tops of mine together. So I can find the matching pairs.

I fold mine in pairs and place them neatly in stacks in my dresser drawer.

I roll my matching socks together and fold DH's.

I used to roll my socks until I realized it seemed to make the top elastic wear out faster. Since then, I'm a 'roller'.

hold them up and one gets rolled into the other...probably not the best for the elastic but I've been doing it this way all of my life!

I wear white socks and DH wears black, so I kave no trouble sorting. I roll the pairs together.

I fold. Son-2 has all white socks, son-3 had white with gray toes and heels and Jammer's are white with solid gray bottoms. Mine are little white ones.

Mine I just fold. Hubby used to like his rolled.....dates back to his army days I guess. Now he just folds them too.

Reading these again, I wonder if I worded it differently than some of you do.
When you say "rolled" do you mean lay them together and just roll up into a ball?

I'm like Kayjones, fold in half and stack in piles in my drawer.
Hubby likes one rolled into the other, which I think would be hard on the elastic. That's why I wash them separately, so I don't get my elastic ruined if they ever got mixed up.

I fold. If DH wanted them done differently he could redo them on his own.

The one doing the work get to choose how to do the job.

We don't get our socks mixed up because I sort laundry into many different loads. Mine (tops,jean,underwear), his (work clothes,shirts,underwear), towels, and bedding. Nice bonus with a front loader is you can do small loads without water waste.

I have many colored socks. I fold them. DH (who mostly does his own laundry) has black socks, all from the same manufacturer. He just tosses them all into his drawer. They fade at different rates, so every morning he pulls out 3 socks, and 2 are sure to match closely enough. The 3rd gets tossed back into the drawer. If he finds one with holes during laundering, he just tosses it.

His dress socks are separate, in my drawer, and folded. He needs dress socks about twice a year, so his four pairs are fine sitting in with mine.

I lay them flat in the drawer many layers

Some people I've seen rol them up and tuck them inside the outside sock but that just makes a big ball that stretches out the elastic to much I think. I used to fold them in half, grab the elastic and tuck them inside and smooth out so they're not overstretching the elastic. (How my mother always did it.) But then I decided why waste the time? I seldom fold them in any manner anymore. Occasionally I'll take them put a pair together and fold them in half if I want to spend the time at the dryer, especially if I have assorted colors or very different styles mixed together otherwise I just grab two socks that match when I need them. I buy a bunch at a time so they match so there's no problem there. I don't get very worked up over it. It's only socks and socks don't show very often anyway so even if I have only two different styles left that are the same color I don't obsess.

I even used to fold my underwear and t-shirts too until nn old GF asked me one time "Why do you FOLD your underwear???" Then it hit me what a waste of time it was. But that's the way we "always did it"! :) Folding all that extra stuff just isn't worth it.

Both. The hand knit socks get folded, the others get the tops rolled together.

cynic, If I didn't fold our underwear, it wouldn't fit in the drawers!

I put my hand inside one sock, slip its mate over my "socked" hand, remove my hand from the nestled pair and lay them flat inside the drawer.

I roll them. Its the only way to keep a mate from wandering off to some remote nook or cranny never to be seen again until one hour after you have tossed the singleton sock away, and then the prodical sock reappears.

I complained to my mother when I was a lttle kid about her rolling my socks and stretching them out. I always fold.

Cynic, I have to fold DH's underwear to make them fit nicely in his drawer. Mine are just tossed in. You don't fold your t-shirts?

I just take the two open ends and fold the end of one over the other in order to keep them together. The they get tossed in the drawer any which way.

I thought the title of this post was "do you roll your eyes" and I was all set to answer...about 20 times a day!

I lay one on top of the other, and fold down the cuff of one over the other. My mother used to roll them completely--toe to top, then fold the outside one over all to keep them together. Always thought that stretched them out way too much. But I don't like them loose in the drawer, so my method is my compromise.

Of course, I was just thinking yesterday, when I was doing the laundry, how I'm STILL not sure I've got all the pairs back together. Broke my ankle last summer and had to wear a sock under my 'boot'--but I left my other foot bare (under a sandal)--so I've got a lot of singles marching around.

I'm curious now about underwear...I fold my panties in half and half again and stack them in a drawer; bras are folded and stacked too.

I fold DH's undershirts the way they are folded when you buy them and stack them in a drawer; he uses from the top. I fold his shorts and stack them too.

OK, so now...how many of each thing do you have? I remember a survey of men in the UK where the average guy reported having three sets of undershorts: One on, one in the wash, and one clean. I thought that was odd. DH has over a dozen of everything. (They must wash more often, and small loads or by hand. By hand? Ick!)

Chisue, hubby gets packages of socks and underwear for Christmas and his birthday from my mom. She buys them at Costco, so there aren't just 2 in a package!
(plus polo shirts). She loves shopping for him.

He has several pairs of socks and undies (folded) in his drawers and new packages stored as well.

I have lots of undies, as well. They started out folded but end up in a jumble. The bras I like to fold and keep together in one spot in the drawer. Undies and bras are in one drawer, my socks in one of their own.

jasdip -- Socks for Christmas? I thought that only happened in that movie...was it "A Christmas Story"? (Maybe your DH would like an air rifle this Christmas, just for a change.)

jasdip, no, I seldom fold t-shirts. Sometimes I'll semi-fold them. Pick it up by the nexk and grab it bunched together in the middle sort of like drape pleats and let it fall down in half. Into the basket stacked that way. Otherwise, however they go. I don't waste time with needless folding. I don't find it takes any more room in the drawer this way. At least it's not overflowing the drawer very often. If it does, well, a couple pair in the laundry basket get used quick enough.

Chisue, you should see the bag DH gets at Christmas from my Mom. Not just 1 polo shirt but 9! And his Costco pkg of socks and underwear. He loves his prezzies.

We all wear the no show socks. I lay them out flat by pairs. Alternately them One pair the toes to me. The next pair the toes away from me. I put my son's on his desk and he puts them neatly in his drawer. I put mine neatly in my drawer. My DH...he grabs the stack and TOSSES them in his drawer...or on his chair...or on his desk.

I fold underwear in thirds toward the front, then in half. And they are alternately stacked opposite so the stack stays straight. Again...son puts his in his drawer. DH throws his where ever and I put mine in my drawer.
