How Many of You Out There Still Like To...........?

I can't say I am in my second childhood, because I never stopped liking to color with crayons. I have my own crayons and books and pictures that once in awhile I like to color. Any other "grown-ups" out there that like to color too?

Oh, I love to color! I'm a 50 year old "grown up" and love it! I find it very relaxing.

i think chard lacks the oxylic (sp?) acid that is in spinach which interfers with the absorption of calicum or iron... sorry forget which. i love swiss chard not too fond of spinach. the former grows all season thru 90 degrees to 20 degrees. spinach bolts quickly in warm temps. i find chard a better choice. i eat some cheese and love it. the odd thing is on pizza i like a minimum amount of cheese (don't want double cheese! the regular amount is often a bit too much) but give me an 8 oz chunk o cheese, any cheese, i'll eat it in 10 minutes! like ice cream, i try to not buy it other than as grated cheese. i use a minor amount of butter. i don't use milk or cream. i eat about a pint of yogurt a week. i love ice cream but i have only eaten it 2 or 3 times in the past 1 1/2 years. i could eat a quart a day therefore i avoid it. i eat eggs in the winter but not too often. i haven't had any for 7 or 8 perhaps 10 months. however, when i do eat eggs, i'll have 4-6 scrambled with veggies. kinda creepy tho knowing what it is! i like them but... tom

Getting rugs to lay still... how to?

I recently purchased a hall runner for the foyer in our new home from Hom Furniture. The pad they provided keeps the run in place...all the time. I've attached a link. This is the best pad I've found for holding rugs in place. I think the thinness is the key. Those mesh ones are a waste of money. I have some of those and they are thicker and seem to "walk". I'm constantly straightening them. Drives me nuts. I plan to order these All In One pads for all my carpet runners. Here is a link that might be useful: All in One rug pad

I've only been to the ex's 10 year reunion. Neither of mine. I got an invitation to the first one but didn't go. Was over in Germany and didn't really want to go back, was very shy in school and had very few friends. I did buy a reunion book but they never sent it to me. I sent in my information about my life up to that point, for that book to be included, but who knows if they included me in there. I never got my 20th reunion invite. I went to Hawaii that summer but my dad lives in the same house he did when I was in high school so there shouldn't have been any reason they couldn't track me down. I assume they had a reunion that year but not really sure. A few years ago, around the time I went to Hawaii in fact, I got two friend requests on Facebook from old high school classmates. I was kind of friends with one, but not at all with the other. I accepted their requests, didn't want to be rude but they both have since unfriended me. LOL.

If they would just lower their prices, feature name brands made in the US etc they would do so much better. Not true. Let's face it, they look very closely at this type of advertising. It works. Look at the number of people with their coupons at the checkouts. And the register goes ca-ching! People will use a coupon and buy Binford 6100 brand ketchup to save 10 from the $1.99 price, and avoid the Bargain Saver brand of ketchup that's 79Â¢ without a coupon. I pointed out several such things in the Walmart thread and someone threw a hissy fit. And the Binford 6100 ketchup lovers won't like this either! Need more proof? How many people like telemarketers? Not many. But why do they keep calling? Because it works! Why do people spam? Because it works. Why do people try to con people out of their money? You know why. And sadly, we used to have TVs made in the USA, but, as my partner used to put it "It's the All-American CHEAP!". People go to MegaLoMart and buy something $10 cheaper and pay $50 each year to walk in the door to get the 5 gallon pail of peanut butter and 100 roll package of toilet paper. Yes, some can't afford to spend more. But many who can, won't. And there's the ongoing argument about this too. Disposable vs repairable. Ironic isn't it? People will argue that they won't spend their hard-earned money on something higher priced, yet will turn around and remodel a kitchen for $20,000 or buy a new washer and dryer because the old one is 5 years old, or get a new (imported?) car every couple years, because, well "I deserve it". And how many people buy SUVs that will never see so much as a gravel road? And then of course there's all the bankruptcy attorneys and other ambulance chasers telling you to "make them pay!" I shake my head in dismay, then burst out laughing. What a country! And yes, it's your money to spend - spend it how and where you like. I wonder how many people understand the domino effect of some of these issues. Companies have to cut prices, so they have to cut costs. So we end up with support lines featuring people with English as a second language at best who read scripts from the computer in front of them then hang up on people they can't help. Or they'll buy steel from overseas rather than American steel. Then complain when their spouse, friend or relative lose their jobs. Just a couple examples. Pretty packaging, celebrity endorsements, repetitive advertising of all types, all add to the price. If they cut that down, they sure could cut prices, but they'd likely lose market share. Moxie Soda made the fatal mistake of cutting their advertising and are now a tiny fraction of what Coca-Cola is, who chose to continue advertising. Does anyone really think McDonald's is its size because of the taste and quality of its product? How many people can't finish at least most of these: -You deserve a ________ today. -2 all beef patties,_________________________________ -McDonald's is your kind of ________ -Look for the Golden ________ in your neighborhood And coupons are another protected species. I see people on here swearing they save thousands of dollars a year with coupons. They'll spend $10 on multiple newspapers to get coupons. I don't get it. Me? I'll continue to buy the bargain brands when they work for me. However I still compare prices. Sometimes a name brand is cheaper so I go with that. There's a few name brands that I stick with because I don't find suitable substitutes. I don't get the Sunday paper so I get few coupons. Occasionally I'll get some and if it's for something I like I'll use them. But I'm not a coupon king. And do just fine with my budget. One thing I'm surprised about although I shouldn't, is how many don't do any planning when they shop. I'm amazed at the number of people who go to the store nearly daily and "shop". What should I have today? I have better things to do with my time.

Yes, I do...the grands & I color a lot together.....so much fun! But they color much better than I do....and as much as I tell them that, they sure know it by now......LOL

I don't color, but I secretly long for one of those huge yellow boxes of Crayola crayons--remember they used to have a sharpener built in? Oh those crayons looked and smelled so good!

Of course and love it....One of my favorite things to do is to go to the Crayola Factory and "play" with all the kid things....

I love to color! As a matter of fact I got the GKs coloring book and crayons and colored a picture the other day while I was sitting there visiting with my mom.

It's been years since we had a coloring book in my house, so I never think about it. I guess I'll color with the twins the next time I'm at their house.

I still love a new box of crayons. ;o) I like to color. It's soothing, therapuetic. I especially like the design books found at craft or hobby shops and a box of sharp colored pencils.

Haven't in a while but do enjoy it. In late Sept places like Walmart have the big boxes of name brand crayons REAL cheap! All the left over school stuff. Can really get some deals.

Oh yeah. I was in the school aisle and could smell the new crayons and that made me remember the smell of a newly sharpened pencil. I bought a box of crayons and they are still in my closet. The least little thing can bring on sweet memories. I haven't colored in a long time, but did as long as my boys did.

I don't have any colors or coloring books...but I love blowing bubbles.

I'll sit on the porch steps and blow bubbles for as long as the bottle holds out.

My grandkids took coloring books and crayons to me in the hospital last month. We had so much fun with them. :)

I was born without a sense of smell and didn't even know crayons had a smell until someone told me.

However, just the other day, a friend of mine told me she still likes to color. It never crossed my mind until she mentioned it, but I think I would enjoy it again also.

Oops, I feel tears now thinking of coloring with my pretty daughter, Sherrie, who is my Angel girl now. I miss you, Sher.

Heres a hug for you Granlan. Maybe just sometime you will get yourself a box of crayons and a book of something that interests you and color some. You just might like it. You can even print some nice pictures off the internet to color.

Wow! I feel like someone peeked in my desk drawer! I do indeed have my own crayons and coloring books. I have always loved to color.

I did color with the grandkids...but they outgrew it.

We still do a lot of "artwork" with markers.

This year we cut out heavy posterboard in the shape of eggs about 7 inches long...and colored them with markers to look like Easter eggs...and hung them with ribbon on my fiscus tree. (Not sure how happy it makes my tree...)

When I design quilts, I use crayons to color the design sketch and pattern. I guess I'm still a kid at heart.

I love to color, only I don't use crayons, I use colored felt-tipped pens. My newest coloring book is of animals of the Northwest; they are incorporated into very elaborate designs. Each page will take a few hours. So relaxing!

And here are more big hugs for you, Granlan. I pray that your tears will help to heal you. Your daughter surely knows that she is very loved.

I love to color. My sister also colors. We buy each other coloring books and crayons or markers for gifts. There are many "adult" type books to be found, but sometimes I like to do the simple pictures in kids coloring books too.

Granlan, I feel your pain. My daughter that I lost also loved to color and paint. Her family members each have several personalized pieces of clothing done by her.

The second time around I married a man 10 years older than me & shortly after we were married his son had kids - I was a grandma at age 38 - I had just exited the coloring stage with my youngest DD - I was able to start coloring all over again! What a wonderful thing!

Coloring is such a wonderful chance to spend time with kids - wonderful converations result.
