On the front page of Whipup, how cool is that?! My very first real quilt, too. OK, not so famous, really, but I was pretty thrilled to see it there. Flattered, even.

Oh, mine is the one on the bottom left. It was a quilt-along and a lot of fun, too.

Kalona, Iowa, has a lot of them on each barn along the highway. I agree...the barns look better with the quilts when they are painted. They are fun to watch for...some of them have a quilt on the front "and" on the back. We have two wonderful barns on each side of our house...I've considered putting up barn quilts myself, but have never done it. There was a display of barns at our local museum a year or so ago and our barns were featured...they are old dairy barns...no longer used for that though.

I spent a good chunk of yesterday cutting scrappy log cabin logs for one of Sara Nephew's patterns. That will be the fourth "kit" I'll have gotten ready to take to Hawaii this winter. I now see how much fun it is to do "scrappy." This one looks like snowflakes, so I'm using greys, blues, teals and whites. Still not totally scrappy, but getting closer. And I get such satisfaction out of making a beautiful quilt with leftovers. We've got company coming Sunday, so a bit of housecleaning will be in order.

I'm up in Oregon tending to Mom. I drive by my favorite fabric store each trip and this time hit the jackpot. They took about half their bolts, pulled the cardboard form out and called them all flat folds. Tables covered with them by color. Only $4.99 yard. I walked out with about 12 half yards for applique but might stop on way home as well. By then I should be able to think of some justification for buying more, right? Just having a sack of fabric in the car to fondle makes my trip easier.

While waiting for my main machine to be repaired so I can finish quilting several quilts, I said I was sewing scrap squares and this is what happened. I get nervous when putting those scraps of all description together. What will it look like, good or messy? I think this one is ok. I found a large piece of the green in my bin and it works for me. pattern is Sunny Skies from MSQC. Sorry for picture quality. And the top needs a good press. Theresa

Thanks, everyone! I really enjoyed seeing what fabrics and combinations of fabrics the other people used, I learn a lot that way. I learn what I like, what I don't like, how to think out of the box, etc. It makes me a better crafter when I get outside my zone.

Anyway, I was tickled to see it there. I made Woody get up and come in to see it, and he was impressed as a guy could be with something that doesn't explode or create havoc! lol

And the cats just love this thing, Beez has staked a claim but he will occasionally let Murphy get on it with him. :)
