Zilotek under cabinet lights question

Last year we redone our kitchen & installed Zilotek under cabinets lights. Now about 6 of the small bulbs have burned out & I was wondering where is the best place to buy the replacement bulbs at? I went to Menards and bought a pack and they wanted $4.49 for 1 bulb! That seems really expensive! Then to top it off I put it in & it burned right out. That was an EXPENSIVE second. It must have been defective!

Where do you buy yours at? is there some place on the web that sells them cheaper?

They are Zilotek under cabinet Xenon replacement bulb JCDGY8 base, 20 watt, 120 volts for use with Xenon Under Cabinet Lights.

Also, never touch the light bulb with your bare hand. Use a tissue.

jwnmkm's electrician "didn't remember how he wired it". I have the same problem. A transformer has malfunctioned, but following wiring visually from switch to where it "disappears" behind base cabinet, we can't tell where transformer is. There is a granite slab backsplash between base and wall cabinet. Without disassembling entire kitchen, is there a way to find out where transformer is or how far from switch? I remember decade ago a tool we used when wiring commercial properties to determine where a break would be, but can't remember what it was called. Thanks for any help.

That may very well be the lighting solution I ultimately go with... but the fluorescent will have to do for now. As for mounting my fluorescent lights, they are either going to aim backwards towards the wall (lighting up the back splash and the counter) or aim forwards towards the kitchen and counter (but still lighting up the backsplash, but not as bright as aiming towards the wall). I guess I could always move them around if I don't like them... but who wants to do that :). I don't think a "middle" location would work for me since they are not aiming downward.

Hmmm?? I have LED and I love them. They are so nice and bright and don't get hot. They were kinda $$ but I am so glad I spent the money becasue we use them all the time and I love them.

I don't know if we "needed" undercab lighting - we lived in this kitchen for 24 years without it - but I think we're going to love it! We live far enough north that it's by 5 pm, so we need all the light we can get in the house in the evenings. It was one of the few things DH insisted on for our new kitchen (the other was soft-close hinges and drawer glides). UCL are pretty easy to put in during a remodel (assuming you'll have an electrician in anyway), but I imagine a lot harder to put in later. Perhaps there are other things you can delay for now to save money.

How do I take Zilotek lighting in 2 directions from center? I understand bringing the power into one side of the fixture, and use the extension cord to move to additonal lights on 1 side. How do I do that in both directions, as the power source is in the middle of the run?
