It's just too much trouble and too much expense in my opinion to keep coloring my hair,i have better things to do with my time,and money.

Just find someone to give you a very nice haircut and style,if you don't already have one,that makes a big difference.

No long grey ponytails.LOL,LOL

What kathi said! My hair started turning gray when I was in my late 30's.I use to color it but it was too much trouble so I just let nature take it's course.I was fortunate to get my DGM's gray color of silvery white so never had the "yellow" gray.There are rinses for that though.My hair is almost all white now and I get more compliments on it.I keep it short and easy to manage and I agree with kathi on the "no long gray pony tails".LOL I think foiling it would just be another annoying upkeep process.

Kathy, you can do a wash in..that washes out in a 8 or so shampoos..or even a shampoo that is for brown hair..leaves a bit of color deposit when you use it.
Mine needs to be colored again..but I'm in the wait period..
I just have to wait a few more weeks for the rain to stop..and I'll be outside 80% of the day..the sun will bleach my hair and I'll have blonde highlights..not white strands..LOL

I enjoy going to get my hair done. It's like a treat for myself. I get it colored and hi lited. It makes me feel better even if I don't have anywhere to go.

i use a temp color about every 6 months...my hair is fairly short so not a big deal to keep color...i use a color called linen, a sort of dark blondish...

You could get it foiled and see how you like it. That's what I've done for years. Some people like to have a couple of different shades blended in with their natural and gray hair colors. I think I would look pretty drab without the brightness that comes from getting my hair foiled once in a while.

Pull out the gray ones!

Of course ... that'd need 3 or 4 mirrors, wouldn't it? Have you tried navigating tweezers via multiple mirrors?

And ... if you kept at it, you'd pretty well end up hairless.

Sorry that I can't come up with better advice.

I'm only 33 and the greys in my part are ridiculous!!! I used to just have strands here and there, but they seem to have all connected!! I got my hair highlighted a few months ago, but it seems like she missed a big chunk, plus all the new ones that have grown :(

I also like to get my hair done once in a while-I tried doing it myself in college with horrible results!!! But maybe the wash in kind I could handle?

I figure I'll wait until after the baby is born and I've recouperated a bit to treat myself to another highlight/haircut session!

At least it doesn't all fall out!

Funny, this has really been on my mind lately. What to do about the gray. I color my own hair, which only cost $12.00 every 6 weeks or so. It is well over $100.00 to have it done professionally and I'm not always satisfied. I've been thinking about having my hair "Frosted" so the grey can grow out.

Main Man said "No", but it is'nt his head. I'm just tired of messing with it.

So your hair is going gray. Don't fret about it. Wear it with a badge of authority, and change your wardrobe to complment your hair color.

Here is a good question to help make your decision. Will the grey go with your skintone? Some ladies have perfect skin tone for grey and some do not. I don't and get my hair colored and highlighted. You only need to color the growth about once a month and freshen the highlights as needed. Any good salon will tell you not to color all the hair everytime. Just the roots. Also my hair is colored several shades lighter than my natural color.

I color my own, it costs about $7 every 2-3 months, depending on how long I procrastinate between colorings. I use L'Oreal Excellence, 7G, dark golden blonde, (it's light brown) and it's easy and takes about 45 minutes from start to finish. I'm 50 and just don't feel like having a head of half and half hair yet.

My grays don't look too bad, I like to pretend they're highlights. Well, at least I came by them honestly, I've been married 28 years to the same man and I've got two teenagers.

It sounds like what's going on is that you have already colored it, and would now like to stop.

If so, that's a different kettle of fish than most folks here have suggested.

I agree w/ the suggestion to use a temporary hair coloring (some wash out in about a month) to keep the silver roots from showing so strongly.

And w/ the idea of investigating the "foiling" to blend in several colors.

Those might give you more time until you can just go back to ignoring it.

I'v'e realized I'm getting MUCH more gray. I don't really want to mess w/ coloring it, and I sure don't want to create a situation where I have gray roots to deal with.

But I toy every now and then w/ the idea of coloring it myself w/ a temporary fix just before big events.

It's not hard to color your hair at home, I do it all the time, well - every 6 to 7 weeks depending on when I remember to pick some up at the druggist...
I was almost completely gray by the time I was 25 - a genetic thing in our family. Certainly wasn't ready then to be gray, still find I'm not ready at 48! Don't know how much gray I have these days as I haven't seen my head with out dye for quite some time.
Go for it, if you really hate it, it'll be mostly out in a month, month and a half, you could always get a cut at that point to get rid of the rest of the color.
Some gals look gorgeous with gray hair. I might too, just not ready to find out...lol.
