I was going to put some eon in my boat a few years ago and found a local supplier. I went in and asked about it and everyone gave me a dirty look and sent a boy to walk me down a dark staircase to a pile in the rear. There sat eon. They said they hated it.. and barely wanted to discuss it. I said it was not for a deck just a few scraps for a boat and they acted like eon was their worst enemy. It is one of the rare composites that has little wood in it... and I guess their formula is wrong or something because it must scratch, warp, swell..etc No idea, never used it.
There is a better plastic wood used by a guy in california called mrdeck.com. It is so expensive though.. more than ipe.
He wants 4.37 a lineal foot for a 2x6. So, a 2x6, say 12 foot long would run you 52.44.
Ipe at around 1.90 per foot would be 22.80 for that same piece. This is without labor.. and for 1 board.
But also consider you won't have to stain it year in and year out and buy brushes, stain, etc, etc.
He only sells $3000 minimum and is like the soup nazi from Seinfeld. )No decking for you! next!) You'll see what I mean when you browse his website.
