My sons love it, but I won't eat a green bean fixed any way!

Love it. Gotta be made with frozen French cut green beans, cream of mushroom, celery or cheese soup with Durkee onions on top. ummmmmmm.

No one here likes it,me included.

Nope. I made it once for a holiday dinner and no one touched it.

Not one of my family like it and it isn't because I don't like it. I won't tell you what they said it looks like :)

Blech! That is so 60's *LOL* - I don't like anything which calls for cans of soup.

However, I do like Campbells tomato soup made with milk, sprinkled with a touch of basil and some very finely diced sundried tomatoes in it as it comes to a light simmer.

That's about it though. I just don't like "casserole" stuff made with soup cans (or any casserole stuff from the 70's time period), too heavy and rich and processed tasting.

I just love roasted green beans though.

I like it ok, but not enough to make it for just myself.

Dh doesn't eat it because he got food poisoning from Green Bean Casserole several years ago at his parent's house. It was an act of stupidity on his part because who eats food out of the refridgerator when you don't know how long it's been there. This form of stupidity seems to be inherent. His cousin got food poisoning from hot dogs he found in the back of the fridge that were over a month old. Eewwwww!

We only eat it about once a year. I think it tastes really good that one time, but if we had it more often I think I'd start to dislike it.

Never ate green bean casserole as a child and don't remember it ever being served.

What I do remember and always loved was this one. And YES canned asparagas!

Asparagus and Green Pea Casserole

2 (15 oz.) cans green asparagus
2 cans small English peas
1 can Cream-of-Mushroom soup
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 cup soft bread crumbs **didn't use bread crumbs but the canned onion rings
2 T. melted butter or margarine
Drain asparagus. Arrange half the asparagus in a buttered 6-cup casserole dish. In a bowl, mix gently the peas, soup and cheese. Spoon half the mixture into casserole. Add remaining asparagus, top with remaining peas. Toss crumbs with butter and sprinkle on top. Bake at 350F for about 30 minutes.

Staple of my mother's holiday meals. I don't fix it now because I was "casseroled out" as a child. Love green beans--sauteed gently and drizzled with a little olive oil. Mixing them up with mushroom soup and putting canned french fried onions on top seems sacriligious!

No. As much as I love Campbells cream of mushroom soup, I consider it junk food.
I serve my beans steamed with a little fresh garlic.

We love it. But it's not healthy so it's a holiday only item.

I love fresh green beans. Hate that sodium-laden, soggy green bean caserole from the 1960's (or before?). I do like a lot of caseroles -- just not vegetable ones. My DH sometimes regales us with tales of the cook at his fraternity who saved leftover vegetables and put them in Jello molds. mmm-MMM. Yech!

Oh, one sort of caserole veg I like is Corn Pudding -- really just a custard with corn in it!

Gross! It's got mushroom soup in it..YUK! My fav green bean recipe is my own. I cook fresh green beans & while cooking-I sautee button mushrooms, diced sweet onion, some diced roasted red pepper in butter, then add the drained beans to the mix, w/salt, pepper & a little garlic salt.

Absolutely love it! I could make a meal on just this casserole.....It's a must in this family...

I like it but don't make it often.

Never ate it as a child...never ate any casseroles. My father was strictly a meat and potatoes sort of guy. I have eaten it at holidays, and I like it, but I have never made it.
My daughter likes it, and makes it some times.

one night we were down to the last can of green beans, pork and beans and ground beef...yup! mixed them all together...it's become a staple over the years, lol...

I always loved it and make it for my family. I make the ORIGINAL recipe which called for French Style Green Beans which makes it creamy. The frozen ones just taste like frozen beans with sauce on top. When I make it for people who've had the one with frozen beans, they always comment that it's so creamy and delicious. Everyone's taste is different.

My family loves it and we have it for every family gathering.

My DS loves it. I make it only occasionally. If I made it more, it would be a burn out. I make it with lots of those onions on it. And sometimes a little cheese. I have to make it with cream though. Makes it super creamy.

It just wouldn't be a holiday meal without the green bean casserole.

If it starts with canned vegetables and canned soup - it will never be served in this household!

if I don't have green beans from the garden...occasionally I'll throw in a can of mushroom soup...I would dare do that to my freshly canned green beans....

Mary it must be nice to have fresh food at every meal...I wish I had the time or the love of cooking to do that...I guess without people like me...that aisle at the grocery store would be a thing of the past!

I agree with Mary C. I think canned soup recipes are for beginning cooks.

I certainly am NOT a beginner cook, and love to use cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup in recipes.

I am a purist when it comes to veggies. I don't want them in casserole,under a blanket of goop(sauce), glazed or pre-seasoned seasoned.

A little butter once in a while or salt/pepper to taste is just right.

The only time my veggies mingle with other things is in a nice beef stew or soup.

Everyone here loves it but I triple only the frozen green beans, use lots of FF onions and cook it the day ahead. Started cooking ahead because the leftovers always tasted better.
