I too would send in a complaint to Verizon, your state attorney general and the state commission of your state controlling the cell phones. Also curious is there some way you can find out what company it is and write to the CEO. But be careful, it might be a overseas company using US numbers.

By the way, in your listing, the words credit card are in green and when I clicked on it, I got an ad for free credit report. com. Maybe it is from them????

Register your cell phone on the government Do Not Call list!

I have been getting car warranty calls on mine, so I registered all our cells.

If they call you after you have registered (give them a 30 period to activate it) you can turn them in.

Telemarketers are annoying, but I do believe it's honest work. I also believe that you got someone who should not be doing that job. It is the exception for a telemarketer to behave like that, but she should definitely be reported.

I've signed up both my house and cell phone on the DNC lists. I called Verizon and they really can't do anything. Before today, I'd got calls about my "Car Warranty"! Last call I got from them, I also pressed 1 to talk to a human! He comes on and asked what make and model vehicle I had. I said..YOU called me about the warranty on my vehicle, you don't know the make and model of the vehicle that the warranty is about to expire on..but you know my cell phone number and then informed him that not only did I not have a vehicle...I didn't have a driver's license!!!

I think this is a new way to get around the no call list. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they hung up on me. I called back and was told by a recording that this number was used by many companies and there was no way to find out which one called me.

My niece had her first baby early. The baby was in the hospital a few extra days. When the baby came home my niece was trying to nurse her tiny baby, it was not going well. The phone rang and when she answered it a girl was trying to sell her baby pictures. My niece said, as her baby cried, I can't talk my baby needs me and then hung up. Her husband walked into the room and the phone rang. The salegirl told him, tell your wife she's a b!tch.

I would report this to the FCC pronto. If I recall right, they have an online form you can fill out.

I'm confused. Was this Verizon that was calling you or another 3rd party? You've had this problem with Verizon before (you mentioned you've pressed Option 2 several times), so I'm not clear as to whether this was a 3rd party cold call advertising low rates, or Verizon actually calling you.

There is no excuse for what she said, but I have to say I feel bad for telemarketers. I'm sure no one wants to hear them and they probably get a lot of rudeness from cold calls. It's not a job I would want.

Did you know you can notify Verizon to put you on their Do Not Call List? Customers were notified via teeny tiny print on their last statement.

My husband called the 800 number and it's a hassle to opt out (they never make it easy) but we did.

I just did a Google search on this number and found dozens of pages pertaining to this phone number, mostly pages where people can complain about receiving calls from this particular number. Looks like this number calls thousands of people to solicit the same thing, usually offering a lower interest rate on a credit card. It appears that no one can identify who the caller / company is, or how to make "them" stop.

Tally...NO it wasn't Verizon that called, it was a 3rd party that got my cell phone number somehow. (They've also called my friend and she's with T-Mobile). I DID call Verizon and was assured they DO NOT sell or trade my number or information.

Adding to what Sephia said, yes, if you Google you'll see lots of complaints about calls from this number. Contact the FCC, who "owns" the Do Not Call List. You can file a complaint right on their website.

If you do a reverse lookup on this number, the info says it's a landline located in Washington, DC. Carrier providing service to this number is Level 3 Communications (www.level3.com). Perhaps contacting them as well may help.

In order to file a complait with the FCC, I have to be on the Do Not Call list for 31 days! I just signed up this afternoon.

CB, I don't think most people understood the notice. Heck, we didn't see it either. If I hadn't read about it on another board we wouldn't have realized it.

As it happens, Level 3 Communication is a partner of Verizon. That's interesting - I wonder if that makes them one of those "authorized companies".

I think it's really crappy that Verizon takes silence as authorization. You have to specifically opt out of their information sharing, otherwise they assume your permission.

So if you do nothing they take that as your approval to release your information to their "affiliates, agents and parent companies (including Vodafone) and their subsidiaries? - whoever they might be. That's pretty sneaky.

I'm glad you signed up for NO CALL. I think it's cut down on a lot of these annoying calls for us.

Didn't think to ask her which card I have.

I did say to her that I expected that, in order to participate, I'd need to give her my CC number, and she said that, yes, I would ...

... to which I told her that no way would I ever be willing to give my credit card number to a total stranger calling from God knows where who made an unexpected and uninvited call to me with such an offer - or any offer, for that matter.

I got a call a while ago about extending my auto warranty and when I asked what kind of warranty they could offer on an '88 Mazda, they passed me to a guy, who said, "Yes, they could offer such a warranty ...", ... then passed me to someone else, who passed me to someone else. Finally gave up and hung up.

On a 21 year old car?

Someone said that, on a car about 10 years old, I think, they offered a drivetrain warranty ... for three years ... for $2,000.

My Mom hung up on a charity caller, it was something for the police. She told them no and hung up. They called her back and told her they knew who she was and would be waiting for her when she got out in her car. We reported it and that is when we found out they are contracted people, not the police. I noticed in today's paper that congress is going to do something about telephone solicitors for charity. sounded like they are going to have to tell the people they call that only about 10 cents on the dollar goes to the charity, the caller's company gets 90 cents.

I've also been getting calls about a car warranty - they all seem to come from Florida, and I usually ignoree them, but several times I've pushed the number to be removed from their list (didn't help) and once pushed the # to talk to a real person - phone rang and rang and rang, and I finally hung up. My son answered once, and when they asked what car we wanted the warranty on, he said "a 1925 Ford" - there was silence, then a click, then the dial tone. BTW, I am on the Do Not Call list and it was a land line.

I picked up on the car warranty one a few months ago and had a little fun...

"Yeah I want a warranty! Thank God you called. Look, can we back date this a couple of weeks? I blew the engine and the transmission in a drag race last Tuesday. And can I pay you later for this? I got arrested for sealing from the cash register at work and lost my job, so I'm a little short on cash right now..."

One night I got so fed up with these warranty/credit card calls that I nearly reached through the phone myself! One night I lost it and I said, "Yeah right! There's no way in HE// I would give you my info! TAKE US OFF YOUR LIST!!" And of course, they hang up before you can say that last part. ARGH! My DH actually had the audacity to say, "HONEY! That's NO reason to talk to someone like that." I gave him my evilest eye and said, "Oh goody! YOU get to answer all these calls from now on and try to tell them to take us off their lists." I literally hand him the phone now and ROTFL while he tries to negotiate with them. I've heard a few curse words since, ::Evil cackle::

The call I get frequently is from a security alarm system company and goes like this - Do you have an alarm system Mrs __________? I tell them yes and I'm very happy about how effective it has proven to be. Are people really stupid enough to answer this question asked by a stranger?

I still use a long blast on a whistle to chill the talking head Tele-Marketers. I press the appropriate buttons on the auto calls to get the human to respond. Then my info is all fake and my address is usually a Government building address and an 866 phone #. You would be surprised how many times the caller does not know 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Washington DC is the White House.

I looked up the number that called you & it seems it's a credit card company wanting to lower your interest rates (ya right) Also seems that they like to use 'colorful' lanuage! Lots of info on the site including numbers to call to get your name off the their list.
