What about JCP?

Bumping this up because I'd really like to know also. Especially the 120"+.

I've never had much luck with JCP (but that could be because the store here is rather a joke...not their best effort by FAR!)

So otherwise, parma, I think we're being told to make our own :oP I have to be able to beat the cost of flying to LA, buying 120" wide fabric widths (for drapes) in the fabric district, (then making 10' long curtains...) and then flying home, (hotel stay in there) with several hundred yards of fabric and liner...and making my own :oP Anyone/?????? ANYONE????

Maybe these folks? I have never used them, but they seem to have some lovely ready-mades, and they do custom as well.

How about Linens and Things- you can use up to 5 coupons per purchase, and I just bought a 120 inch length drape (only one panel) to cover a doorway temporarily- wasn't terribly expensive.

Igloo, before you dismiss JCPenney based on the store in your area, you might want to take a look online (if you haven't already). The draperies they sell seem to be VERY reasonable and you can order just about anything via their website.

I think for a rental you are likely to want to spend the least amount possible that still look okay. Silk Trading company is beautiful but wow, I'd never dream of spending that kind of money on drapes for a rental.

Have you thought about ordering fabric on line? You can get samples OR are you looking for an excuse to fly to LA to go shopping? LOL.

I've been on the prowl for inexpensive neutral-color linen or cotton drapes for months now and the nicest and cheapest I've found, by far, are from Ikea. I think they are nicer looking than the basic drapes from Restoration Hardware / Pottery Barn / West Elm and way less expensive. Note that the prices are for a PAIR of panels!

They have 2 styles I like. The Lenda comes in off-white, pale beige and a few other colors. The drapes are cotton, fairly heavy weight, and have a nice texture (widely spaced slight linear ridges) that make them look expensive IMHO. They come in a 118" length, are unlined and must be hemmed. The finished length is 118", after hemming.

My other favorite at Ikea is the Aina drape. They are linen and the unbleached is a not-too-yellow taupe, darker than the beige Lenda, and a very nice neutral color. (My favorite, can't you tell?) They also come in several other colors. The longest is 98" and also is unlined and unhemmed. It would be very easy, since you sew, to add a band to the bottom in a contrasting color to get the length you need.

Aina drape

I bought the hadley stripe from Penneys by Silk Trading Company. They are among the nicest ready mades that I have found. They are not interlined. I would feel comfortable ordering from their website. The quality of the hadley stripe is good. The pleat is not what I consider a real pinch pleat, but they do hang nicely.

Another source option is Curtains Excange. Good quality fabrics and well made.

The big O website has some really nice looking silk panels that are reasonably priced.

Decorpas....save a couple days for the district :) It's SOOO MUCH FUN! (I spent four days there alone when I went and brought home a couple hundred yards of 120" wide fabric...what a dream!) BUt I'm too busy to get these drapes made. (Don't miss Royal Fabrics!)

I really should leave DH with the little guy for a weekend...hummmm it's a tought...

I always thought curtain exchange had an outlet or something for their old curtains but I can't seem to find it. I probably don't want to pay for custom curtains at this point...though they're going to need to look that good here.

Running...this is a pretty fancy rental...corporate rental to the oil industry at $3500 to $4000 a month furnished. To get into the market you have to have the best of the best...furnishings, drapes etc. You're renting to execs most of the time on short term contracts through their employers. And you have to know someone to get the contacts to get into the market...but I do :)

Half of the fun of this place is that I get to go hog wild and decorate another home as if it were for myself :) Antiques, leather furnishings, etc. Not quite the level of my home, but close, which is a hoot!

Jersey...I can't figure out where to buy 120" wide fabric online :( If you know a place....please let me know. But again...do I really have time to make them....no!

Adoptadrape is great. I got drapes there after seeing other posters' drapes from there. Great quality. I do have some JCP drapes which are nice as well (their silk drapes). Whoda thunk it that JCP has the most reasonable and best drapes for the money?

I recently went to the Silk Trading Co warehouse sale. I was interested to find out that the silk they use for their JCPenny line, Great Indoors and the super high end lines is the same (even the pattern.) The difference in price they told me is due just to the liner (and name brand I'm sure.) So you can feel comfortable buying the JCP and knowing it's the same silk as the more exp one. I suppose you could always change out the liner to a heavier one if you really wanted to.

My DD's friend (fellow major in apparel studies) has recently become employed by JCP as a drapery buyer based in Dallas. DD said her friend enjoys her job very much.

Have you looked on ebay?

I've looked on ebay and my worry is you can't always see the quality of the fabric. And heavy liners are almost more important to me than the silk quality...because we have 24 hours of sunlight streaming in on them in the summer (which eats silk alive!)

I'll wander through the penny's site, and look at the others (adoptadrape sounds fun). And I am going to IKEA at the end of the month, so for fun I'll wander there. I could go with less formal styles in some of the other rooms and a nice linen drape would work. If I got them cheap enough I could reline them myself easily since I have all the equipment (it might make DH happy to see me use the stuff LOL since he couldn't figure out why I needed such expensive sewing machines that can "only do one thing") he wouldn't know a serger if it bit him in the backside heh heh

Another couple of places to try are drapestyle.com and antiquedraperyrod.com. They can both be pricy, but I know drapestyle usually has a good selection of panels on sale. They both have email lists. I don't think either have 120" fabric widths, but of course you can choose from several panel widths.

What I don't understand about adoptadrape.com (and maybe someone will educate me!) is that there's just a small photo of the fabric (doesn't look like it can be enlarged either), doesn't say if it's lined, and many times doesn't say what the fabric is, plus I think all of the VIP collection are unlined. So what am I missing?

I did find their website a bit sloppy hoosiergirl, but the items I purchased did have that information on them. One set did not have linings, but they were so cheap I didn't care (144" wide x 120" long is hard to find). They are dupioni silk, but at the amazing price, it's not a big deal to either line them myself, or go ahead and buy black out lining and make my own inner panels.

I also will end up making some drapes, because some idiot (bless her soul) posted on here about a great source for fabric yesterday...and ummmm 80 yards fell off the truck to be delivered to me soon :oP Dagnabbit!

Well hooey...Adopt a drape is redoing their website and all of the drapes I ordered are gone. THey won't be current online until June :(

Sorry to hear that about your drapes, Igloochic :-( I am happy to hear, though, that I'm not crazy & that it is a somewhat "sloppy" site. And really, if all the drapes they have shown aren't available, and the site won't be current until June, that is *really* sloppy!

I am also with you hoosiergirl on that site. I looked at it but only stayed a minute b/c I thought it was a terrible set up!
