My bargain of the new year. What's yours?

I laughed all the way to the "savings" bank on this one. You can too! I am not one that has to have the new best thing to impress myself or others. LOL

Our old t.v. got struck by lightening, it came in through the satellite. We had to call the satellite guy to exchange out the satellite and wires. Wej"rent" the satellite from dish network, we are not responsible for any of it. He was telling me how the new HD models would not work well if you did not get the updated something or other from Dish network, and just call Dish. "Oh really", I said. The wheels in my little brain started thinking. Most people HAD to have these new HD t.v.'s so I bet maybe some of the thrift stores will have a t.v. for cheap. I was thinking maybe $50.00 or so. I wanted to replace the t.v. in our bedroom and downstairs, because they both got hit by lighting. So, I started looking around at thrift stores. Yesterday I hit the motherload! Goodwill in the state adjoining us were selling t.v.'s for $5.00 a piece ( the old analog) as probably I am thinking as people got a new one (HD) for christmas. I ask the saleslady why they were so cheap, and she said they had a trailer in back full of these old t.v.'s. and needed to get rid of them. She told me that they had been tested and did work and we had 60 days to bring it back if indeed it did not work. So, for $20.00 I have 4 really Nice t.v.'s. The screens on two of them are quite large and the other two are like a medium size, one being a larger than the other one. One will go in my husband's shop. (yes, he has satellite out there...he has to watch ball games while to piddles) and one will go in the guest bedroom, one in t.v. room and one in our bedroom. I just love a bargain. These old t.v.'s WILL work if you have satellite; I am not sure about cable, though. So what is your bargain? I know there have been alot of January sales. I just love a bargain, don't you?
