Comments (0)I'm in zone 8b outside of Savannah, GA and would like to buy an avocado plant that would make it through the winter here. It's our first time in this area, so I'm not sure exactly what the winter temperatures are, but the reports make it seem as though the typical low is above freezing. Of course, the weather patterns are changing all over the world, so I know there's no guarantees, but I'm willing to get it a go. Any recommendations for variety and places to buy? Thanks....See MoreWhere is the best place to buy WALL ART?
Comments (16)I have nothing against the online mass produced art. With some suppliers the prints may be of poor quality so it's best to check that out but most of them stock the works of great -- really great -- artists as well as a lot of fine work from lesser known hands. Just click through the predictable, over-popularised or simply bad work. But I do also love the idea of supporting artists directly by buying their originals. You don't show enough of the room to make suggestions, really, which is always fun to do although whether they are often useful is moot. So I'm just suggesting a size that would work. Big, to contrast with the two small pieces on the other wall....See MoreBest place to buy drapes
Comments (11)Beautiful inspiration room! The curtains in your post are very simple with rings at the top. What you like about them is the color and the height. The mistake made when getting window treatments is making them too low/short/long. Install the rod almost to the ceiling. With an eight foot ceiling, 96" length is easy to find. Pottery Barn, West Elm, JCPenney and Restoration Hardware are a good places to start. I don't know anyone who has had a bad experience with JCPenney, believe it or not. Before you go crazy ordering online, determine the following: 1) Measure the width of the window and buy enough curtains for 2-1/2 to 3 times the width, even if you will be keeping the curtains open. This is what professional do and there is nothing worse then skimpy drapes. 2) Determine the length. 3) Determine the type of fabric. Looks like linen or cotton from your pic. That means stay away from polyester and silk. 4) Determine if you want black out curtains or light filtering, lined or unlined. 5) Determine exactly what rod and curtain rings you like. This will help you search for exactly what you want. Most online suppliers will send you a sample of the color and fabric, sometime free and sometimes for a small fee, but worth it. Even if the perfect curtain has a rod pocket, You can always have your tailor sew on the rings. The other good advice above is to consider getting them custom made. The curtains in the pic are not overcomplicated and I am sure you have someone in your area to accommodate you. Have them measure how much fabric you will need and either buy the fabric through them or buy online. Fabricators usually have fabric books from Kravet and other better fabric suppliers. Also, think outside the box. This curtain from West Elm is indoor/outdoor Sunbrella fabric.
