Boy, did I step out of my box~~~

I hope my late DH was looking down and smiling this morning...he would have been so proud~~

He gave me a pistol a couple years ago (and I am terrified of guns), and thought he would teach me to shoot it...well, that day never came.

So this morning, I just picked it up with some ammo and went to an indoor shooting gallery...and with a lesson, I actually did pretty for a 70 yr. old woman with a shaky hand. My frist time, I got 10 out 14 that were bulls-eyes! I felt confident as long as he was standing by me....and actually, it was kind of fun~~ But I will do it again...but will never have the guts to really use it~

Got it - no aqua globes :) I'll remember about the pitchers too - thankfully there were pretty small so I don't think I hurt its nutrient processing too much...as for lighting, I think it may be ok where it is without the bulb, but will keep an eye out for problems just in case. When I do get around to transplanting, does anybody have experience with planting in a terra cotta pot that is inside a non-porous pot, kind of like a self-watering thing? Mike, your Clivias are huge..The first one has the longest leaves I've ever seen.. I love your variegated, but think you know, varietates are my favorits.. Jon, don't ya just love maple leaves??? NOT! Those darn leaves are/were on every single plant thta was summered outdoors..it's a pain picking each out, especially when they crumble..and who knows if insects hide inside the creases. Maple leaves can't even be used for mulching perrenials..they'll drown a plant/s. Jon, your Peony is really nice..is it a double? I've never seen double or semi-double before..Yellow is one of my favorite flower colors..beautiful. Toni

Might be easier to just prick out the tomato seedlings and transplant them as soon as the seed caps fall off. ;) Just do it with care. Good luck. Dave

Annie, I took all the oils and the penzey's spices on vacation and they were great. We have been on a bit of a from scratch pasta sauce kick and the basil oil meant we never had to buy fresh basil for just a tiny amount. I have also been quickly depleting the garlic oil, so good over broccoli with butter and a splash of soy sauce. I used the lemon oil in Tomato Basil butter the other day and it was a real time saver. I think I will be ordering oils soon :-) Although I did find the garlic oil in Trader Joe's on the cape. I look forward to the champagne vinegar as well, this whole package is so wonderful. I even found a source for unripe apples next year so I can try a greater selection of the recipes from my new cookbook. Good friends who are always happy to eat my jam have an apple tree on their property. Ann, you are right the box was huge, I used it to send out my swap package. So my swap partner will be receiving a well traveled box. -Robin

Good for you! I'm sure your DH was smiling broadly.

Just one word of caution, though......if you truly believe you could never fire on someone, don't even pick up the gun. In fact, keep it out of sight. In the event of a robbery or whatever, the presence of a gun would put a much higher risk on you.

Good for you. My whole family were police officers but I never fired a gun till we moved to TN. We live in a very rural area with lots of wild animals. I now am almost as good as my husband with a gun. I don't think any one knows for sure if they can fire on someone or not till they are put in that position. For me, if someone broke into my home my gun is where I could use it. I hope this never happens but I will protect what is mine.

Yayyy!!!! I'm glad you got some practice in!

I'm very afraid of guns too, but mangaged to get my CCW a couple of weeks ago.

Good for you Mary! Both Mary's. And you too, Dianamo. Even if you think you could never use it to defend yourself, it's fun to target shoot. Just always remember your gun saftey rules, and keep a lock on it, with it also locked away.

Good for you. Knowledge is always good even if you think you will never use it. I think as you become more comfortable, you will be more confident in yourself if you are ever in a situation where you find that you may need to use it.

I met a 78 year old little dude that packs a pistol. He's always by himself and is just being cautious.....:0)

Good for you!! I have a "Lady Wesson" 38-5 shot, and I certainly hope I never have to use it but if someone tries to break in my house in the middle of the night...well, big surprise! I was going to get a rose engraved on it but now don't want to pay for the expense. :)

Mary...you are on your way girl.. For sure hubby was smilin down on you and like others have said never say never. Just be confident if and when that time comes that you are fully prepared to defend youself.
