I got Electric Marmalade Magic last fall and it has a scape. So anxious to see it in bloom because of it's vivid coloring. Nice set of pics Jean. Soon we will all be joining you running out to our gardens to take "just a few more shots!" Vickie

Well thank you all!! Best photo is an outstanding compliment, seeing as there are some great photographers here on this board! :o) And enablers too, I must say! Kathy - I think that is the best photo I have of Strawberry Candy. I finally got a new camera, and if I set it on the "baby" setting, I can really get the true colors of some of the hard to capture daylily colors, such as Strawberry Candy. It is not pink, but not orange... and "bright coral" sounds so blah! lalalandwi - you are going to just love IPT, blooms are on the smaller side, but they are just so darned cute with the yellow wire edge. For some reason, daylilies with that feature really seem to capture me. IPT is another daylily that makes me all giddy when I see it bloom. EMMA TOMLINSON MCHUGH is one that I looked for, for a long time. Very different, but the pink is SO intense. Maryl - CIG is one of those flowers that kind of has a stippling effect that makes up its overall color. For me, it took a while to really get good blooms, even though the plant took off like a weed. It opens well, and has great branching and budcount. Sharon, IPT was really light pink the first year I had it. This year, the color has darkened up some, but it does fade a wee bit in the HOT Texas sun, so I get lighter flowers in the afternoon. My photos from last year were remarkably lighter, but I think it was because the clump was not established. 2008

Don: I was kind of impressed those big blue leaves too and am just not feeling like ripping them out. Maybe I will just enjoy them this season and see what happens next year. If they don't get the burn, I might just let them take right over (I have two other Francis Williams but this is my biggest by far) Pat: I don't even remember buying GE and had to have it identified by hosta 'experts'. I think I bought something else but really got GE. I actually like it better when the yellow centers fade to cream. Last year I moved it over just a little and it rewarded me by refusing to sent up scapes. I hope I am forgiven this year and get some flowers. Is it worth one more try? Vanessa: That is so cool that your parents grow hosta too. 150-200 is quite a collection. I imagine they must have a good sized property. And if you don't divide, then they must be a good size too! Jo: I will have to watch my blue leaves for the sunburn. Interesting that you still get a little even with the gold sport. I love it when they sport. My first and only sport was Tokudama Flavocircinalis that sported and gave me Golden Bullion. It is quite a slow grower too and I thought I had lost it this year but after digging around in the soil after every other hosta was up, I found leaves an inch down in the soil. I quickly dug it up and repositioned it with the crown level with the soil line. I wonder if it would have made it up if I hadn't poked around. It has just send up a scape so I think all is well. Enjoy this beautiful weather we are having! Barb

Jean - We've all been missing you! So wonderful to see you posting again! nancykvb - Hello to you also! Insider Trading and Summer Snowball are great ones. Maryl - Empire of Desire is a midseason bloomer. It's just about bloomed now, but I'm hoping it reblooms this year. I like the color, the sculpting, and the large size of the blooms. It multiplies extremely well. I traded part of it and sold a division this spring and still have six fans. I would definitely recommend it. Summer Snowball reminds me of Razor Sharp. Sorry to read your Pinwheel Princess did not bloom this year. I was sad about Larkspur Blues not scaping this season. Maybe we'll both get lucky and they'll put up scapes later. Sherry - My mom is doing better. They're finally letting her have real food again! Mantis - Did you finally add Insider Trading? If so, I hope it's doing well for you. Debra
