Finally a coffee maker that I like!

{{!gwi}} Just right for me! I'm a one cup person.

Friend gave me a Keurig one cup, for Christmas, a year ago, and I never cared for it. Bought the reuseable filter, but just didn't like the coffee taste.

Had another one, (sp) Gevalia and it was ok.

I'm happy with this one. It's a 5 cup Mr Coffee. Good buy at Kohl's.

No! Not right now. However, trying to get DH to see things my way is like talking to a brick wall! Grrrr
DSon has a small Mr Coffee too, think his makes 4 cups, no extras on his though.

We love ours it is a no carafe type so very easy to keep clean and the coffee never sits out in the open air on that burner. Now everyone in my family has the same kind, will never go back to any other kind. My husband took our original one to work so I had to get a new one when we moved here. They work great never had a problem with them.

cooperbailey, Thanks, those are encouraging words. I will probably get some sort of shelving unit on each side of the fireplace later on. I have the black bench beside the fireplace for now and the pvr machine is on the floor next to it. I was thinking of adding a nice vase on the sofa table, some pictures and maybe a candle. Personally, I would go the French Press, drip cone and instant hot route, which would be useful for lots of other things too, or a pod maker. I've had coffee from a Keurig and would have bought one for us if we didn't have an espresso maker already. I used to use a drip cone for coffee at work or single cup at home and still use a large one for a thermal pot when entertaining. I likethe French press coffee, but not the silt, so I'd have to learn not to drain a cup. The stovetop route is good too. You have lots of good options. I did look up the average life expectancy for a coffee maker and one source put it at 2 years. Before we got the espresso maker, it seemed we were replacing every year -- less than every two. We bought our first espresso maker 10 or more years ago and still have it. I know we never got that out of any regular countertop model, but I didn't want to be too harsh with the one year evaluation. ;-)

I like having all the coffee devices so that I can compare and also reevaluate on occasion. I have an aeropress. It doesn't take up huge storage space but in multiple testing, I can't say that I was really impressed. It makes very good coffee, but so does my Melitta pour over filter method. I disagree with colleenoz on speed/convenience: Yes, the packed puck is neat, but it takes extra care to load (there is a filter) and time and stir. A regular filter is easier to load and the coffee is easier to add and the filter can be thrown away faster than unscrewing the press bottom. I suspect the superior flavor that an aeropress could produce is from a minimal extraction. The same may be generated by not diluting other coffee methods in a similar manner. This can be controlled with pour over. Actually, a drip maker with minimal water would likely work too. And yes, I broke a french press too. They make nice coffee but are a pain to clean.

How do I put the infuser back into my Wolf built-in coffee maker?

After some time on the phone with Wolf, we finally figured out that the tube at the bottom of the infuser was extended. It's like a suction tube so it wasn't moving at all, nor did I think it was movable. Turns out, it was in an extended position and once it was pushed back into place, the infuser fit back into the machine.

It's programmable, but I put the coffee and water in it at nite, and just press the on button when I'm ready for my cup in the morning.

I have one too Glenda and I love it....I have a very expensive coffee maker and an expresso maker and the one I love is my little Mr. Coffee.

I love,love,love my Cuisinart Grind and brew. It's programmed to grind the beans, then brews the coffee into a metal thermos carafe,through a metal (gold - not paper, ugh)filter .

I make just enough for the one large cup I drink in the morning...and it's ready when I walk into the kitchen in the morning.

Cause I only have one cup a day, I pour it into the mug right after brewing.

ME, I thought the Keurig was messy, especially using the reuseable filter.

Yes & no. I love my 1 cup brew & go, much better then that Keurig I had. I also have the Hamiton Beach brew station, which is fine but not for my needs. I want a regular coffee maker that makes 12 cups. DH likes iced coffee so I make 2 qts at a time.

DH has not found a coffee maker he likes. We've tried several. I'm a tea drinker so its not an issue for me. He tried a pod coffee maker when they first came out. He didn't think the water was hot enough. Now we have a cuisinart with a stainless carafe and gold filter. He doesn't care for that one either. I'm thinking of getting him an old fashioned percolator pot. I remember as a kid how good the house smelled when coffee was brewing. I bet you could craiglist your keurig!

I like my "free" (is anything really free?) Gevalia coffee maker and I use their coffee, which I love. I use my french press too quite often & you can't tell that from regular brewed coffee..it is good....and a nice way to impress your guests! lol.

I love our Keurig! But I don't like the refillable thingy either, Glenda. My second favorite 'coffeemaker' is a french press. I bought one of the Cuisinart grind and brews a few years ago, absolutely hate it.

I have a Kitchen Aid coffee machine. Empire RED! Love it. I've had it about 6 years, I think. I used to go through inexpensive machines every six months. This time we spent about $100 on this one and it's lasted so long. In the end, I've saved money.

I have a Gevalia coffee maker too but right now, it's coughing. Maybe, it's about to croak. Like Mary, I like their coffee too. When my income was reduced to disability, I had to cut back and cancelled the membership. I really don't miss it because I happen to like Community Dark Roast coffee too which is readily available at local stores.

I find that most coffee maker brew coffee too quick. The water goes through the ground coffee so fast that it doesn't allow enough time for the coffee to seep.

That's what the Vietnamese single coffee maker is all about. It allows you to ajust the drips. The slower it drips, the stronger the coffee would be. However, it makes a single cup/glass only.

With the Gevalia coffee maker, I actually use 2 filters in order to somewhat achieve this technique. The coffee does taste so much better because it allows the flavor to emerge.

I need to research to see if there's such a coffee maker. One that is adjustable with the drip/brew speed.

I think I had that one, it does one to four cups. Unfortunately, it just died. I couldn't find another at my local stores, Target, etc. Now I know they still make them, mayber I'll buy one and have it reasdy in case my current coffee maker goes to Coffee Heaven.
