The Allia sink is gorgeous and fireclay has a wonderful feel. Fireclay or white cast iron do look nice with the darker granite like the one you have selected. But stainless is also a wonderful material for sinks. I've had stainless most of my adult life and have never once worried about banging, chipping or breaking it. In terms of resale I don't think that it matters if you chose fireclay or stainless. I looked at the beautiful Allia sink and decided that it was a little bit deep for my needs. I also felt that the Kohler cast iron sinks (most are under 500 dollars) seemed more durable than fireclay. But the Allia was tempting...

Hi ctbert, We have had the KBU14 Kraus sink for almost 11 months now and we just love, love it! Compared to the small 23inch, 6inch deep white enamel sink in our old pre-remodel kitchen, this is a dream! I would have to say that this sink is probably tied with my range for my favorite thing in my new kitchen! I love the grid, the depth, the 16 gauge and LOVE the big size. I was originally considering the KBU12, but I am so happy I went with the KBU14. I can wash cookie sheets in it completely, pizza pans, big pots fit in perfectly with room left over for other dishes and stuff. It cleans up real nice with dish soap and water. I love the grid, for protecting the sink bottom, and it cleans up with some soft scrub, scrubby sponge and toothbrush. (I do this in my utility sink in the basement about once a week). I use stainless steel magic on the sink to polish it after I clean it. I have no trouble with the sink draining to the center hole. The rounded sides make for easier cleaning. Before bed, I just use the pull down faucet and swish the water to get any debris left in the sink down the hole. I do sponge-wipe dry any water spots from the sides of the sink every night. I know, maybe I'm obsessive about it, but it makes a perfect sink for the morning use :) My Mom has the KBU12 (her kitchen size wouldn't allow a KBU14) for 2 years and she loves hers too. We both have the Delta Leland pull down faucets in stainless steel (not the arctic stainless color, there was something weird about the color... the look). Both our Delta Lelands are number: 19978-SSSD-DST. We both like our faucets very well. Very functional. The pull down is magnetic lock so it clicks firmly back in its position. We have had zero problems so far. We also liked that there is only one hole that had to be made in the quartz counters. We both bought our Kraus sinks from Amazon (great price!) and our Deltas from Home Depot. My kitchen is traditional with white cabinets in a craftsman bungalow and my Moms is also traditional style with honey Maple cabinets in a split-entry home. It looks nice! Funny, it almost seems slightly wider than long (vs. square) but I guess it is just the camera angle. I really like the countertop and hardware too. Mind if I ask what stone you went with and where you got the hardware and what model it was? i know what you mean about agonizing over details. It's especially hard for me because we're going to a much bigger kitchen that we'll have to grow into so I wanted some flexibility in the design (meaning shelves/rollouts I can adjust down the road since I don't yet know all of what is going in it.) I do now have a better appreciation for drawers. And yet at the same time, I feel like I made the decision for the Rohl's farm sink without doing much research. Let's hope my gut there was correct. It's also hard because DH and I have to agree and there are a number of choices that seem good. I really think a black sink that would blend into the Absolute Black honed granite on the island would look best and be more dramatic. An actual granite sink felt too heavy and would require additional time/money and I worried that if anything broke, it would be hard to replace it vs. an undermount I will google Dawn too. The Elklay isn't inexpensive. I think it was $300-$400. Thank you! Thank you!

My Kraus sinks do not have offset drains but they have sink grids." @vinmarks - in answer to your question (and anyone else looking at this thread wondering about this), my comments above were referring to an offset corner drain. The term "offset drain" means it is simply not centered in the sink; it is in the back or the corner. Your Kraus KHU100-32 does have an offset drain in the back. There are two advantages to an offset corner drain. One advantage is that it allows you to set down in the sink dishes, large pan, tray without covering the drain. Many people (including me) prefer not to use a sink grid that you mentioned. The second advantage to a corner drain is that under the sink the drain and the disposal (if you have one) is off to one side. This allows a more uninterrupted area for storage under the sink, vs. a drain pipe down the center. So you would have more storage space under the sink, and you won't have to be always peering around one or the other side of the drain pipe to get your cleaning supplies, sponge, pail, garbage bags, etc. that you've stored under the sink.
