Fashion is a fickle mistress. Whether it's home decor or clothing. Yes, yes, and yes!! Ditto the issue with finding inexpensive basics. The cats like to nibble on lampshades, so they usually have a short lifespan here. No way am I spending more than $30 for a lampshade, and I've been lucky enough to find some plain basic shades at Ross, Tuesday Morning, Walmart, etc. I also buy every one I see at the thrifts. I've become a white/cream lampshade hoarder! I like to be able to see the exact color and quality of most things in person, so I totally understand not wanting to have to order every single thing online. I spent the weekend looking for trim for a window treatment. Looking for a medium sage green or even an olive color. A gold or dark taupe would have worked, or even a burgundy, because I'm just that flexible. There were 10 shades of teal and aqua, lots of grays, lime green, all sorts of trendy things, but no simple average green. Clothing...O.M.G. I occasionally need to dress up for work. I want to look like a woman, but without wearing anything too revealing or that looks like clubwear. I need comfortable business-wear flats...no sequins, no bows, no peep toe. I could go on and on, but you all know what I mean.

I wasn't going to answer because my, admittedly narrow, strong preference is almost always curtains that blend with the wall color. To my taste, continuing the sweep of background, instead of breaking the whole up with more blocks demanding attention, to throw attention to special foci is a winning recipe. But turns out I like where you're going without any suggestions from me anyway. :) Concerning pillows , must you finalize them, or all of them, now? Maybe wait and add personality as your design evolves? Like art (especially!), lamps, and other accessories, they are, after all, an opportunity for further creative expression. Current popular styles, relentlessly mass production driven, may persuasively argue otherwise, but depth of personalization and impressions can always be introduced subtly. My favorite rooms always offer more when seated after merely scanning on entry. Shallowness is so common, and depth need not equal clutter.

Bed is arriving today and all I have are sheets :( So many decisions. I think I will go with the charcoal gray square headboard, even thought it is pretty expensive. I am drawn to the tufting so I'd like to keep that. I will go with a lighter shade of gray for the bedding and add different shades of blush and gray pillows. I still am unsure of drapes. I am meeting with painter about the dresser colors. Clair Pope - I'm embarrassed to admit but I actually got the canvas painting at Hobby Lobby :) I love reading everyone's comments. This is just what I needed. Keep them coming if anyone has ideas on bedspread and drapes. Thank you everyone!!

Flo ? is OP going eclectic with contemporary teal spread, etc.... seems she's not into the ornate! leather pillow also... right now I picture a matching textured pillow to the teal, like this, and not full-out opposite leather.
