I love to dance....even being "old and fat" can't stop the body from movin when I hear live music. Or if it is playing good and loud on some hi tech equipment.

Denny has never been able to dance. He's a real Navin R. Johnson in his early days when it comes to dancing.

A friend and I took dance class a few years ago and had a ball. We learned the Swing, polka, two-step, tango, cha cha, ballroom, and I can't remember what else. It's great exercise!!!

It's really funny, here in my German Community everyone dances. A good Polka comes on and they all get up and dance. Young and Old alike. It is not unheard of to see to women dancing together.

Now we aren't "Overall Wearing, Truck Driving, Straw Suckers", but we are country.

Gayle, I worked for a short time in a business in a town with a large Chech population. We played the local polka radio station most of the time and the little old ladies would come in and dance down the aisles. I think that's what kept them in such great shape and spirits all the time. I just loved being around them.

You would ever catch me in that dress either, Gayle! I do think square dancing would be fun.

I used to love to dance. At one of my DH Christmas partys, I kicked off my heels and ended up dancing the soles off my pantihose. Then a few years ago, Line dancing lessons were offered through community ed. That was soooo much fun. I still remember the "Tush Push". Every so often a good song comes on the radio, and I'll get up and push my tush. LOL As for square dancing. DH and I took lessons back in the 70's. That didn't work out, cause it moves so fast. By the time I checked my hand to tell which one had my ring so I knew which way was left or right, I was three moved behind. If I had the figure, I wouldn't mind wearing a square dancing dress. I had the priviledge of marrying into a Chech/Slovak family, 40 years ago. Since then, the weddings are events to really look forward to! Italian weddings are great, but it's hard to beat those little old women, dancing the polka with each other! LOL. You can get really dizzy doing the polka.....I know.

I was raised Quaker and dancing is against their religion, so I never learned to dance. So, I guess, the answer is no. No interest in it now.

I havn't heard of half of the dance styles you mention but DH and I have been going to "Ceroc" classes (CEROC - DERIVED FROM "C'EST LE ROCK! Ceroc is a modern partner dance with the WOW factor. A funky blend of french rock 'n roll that has a latin look and feel.)
We've been going since August last year and we just love it! I've had to sit on the side lines for a few months because I hurt my shoulder but I had my first night back on Wed -talk about great exercise. DH just graduated up to Intermediate level with his first class last night but I'll be wallowing in beginners for some time yet!
The Ceroc groups around Auckland often run dance parties altho we've only managed to make it to one of them but it was terrific fun!

How cool is that? I think I would like that. Sounds like fun. It's nice to have a Dance Partner. Main Man use to dance, but barely gets around now. We use to go dancing 2-3 Times a week, that was only 10 years ago. Sniff!

I am one of the World's worst dancers. I could sit with Denny while Patti danced with my DH. LOL (Except he isn't all that good a dancer.)

I haven't danced for quite a few years but used to go dacing alot. Never did learn to Polka but I just love the music. I watch the Happy Joe Polka Show on TV once in awhile and the music and dancing just makes me feel good.Looks like fun and like Happy Joe says -It's happy music for happy people. Sometimes it is from some place in Texas but usually Minn.

Dh and I like to dance ... West Coast Swing, New York Hustle, Nightclub Two-step but our 23 year old daughter is the true dancer in the family.

She has studied dance since age 6. Attended the Orange County High School of the Arts with a major in Classical and later Contemporary/Modern dance.

She's studied at the Alvin Ailey School of Dance in NYC and is currently an Argentine Tango dancer. She knows just about every dance out there and dances whenever she possibly can.

It was fun to watch the clog dancers when I was in KY last summer. Elderly ladies would ask our high school boys to clog with them.

Gayle, we used to go to Octoberfest at Old World every year and then we got busy with raising a family and we stopped. Huntington Beach is only about ten miles from our home. DH's best friend is German and he live in Huntington Harbor now, so there is no excuse for us not to go.

But I'm curious, what does that have to do with dancing? I mean I know they do the polka and such but do they do other dancing there as well? The polka is just a bit too unpredictable for me and my bad knee. LOL

They did some other Dances when I was there where they were in a circle. The Ladies danced inward, and then out and then the Men would dance in and then out. They formed a bridge with their arms and couples went under one by one. All this in full costume. Pretty entertaining.

I'll have to ask my Cousin's German Husband what that is called.
