Hi! I'm the other short girl that had been suffering with her old sink. We ended up with a Grohe Alira. We had bought a tall one with a pull down, and even showed it to the shutter guys, but found out that the shutter wouldn't open with that faucet. Oh well. Instead, I searched for a low profile faucet with a good reach. I just had a feeling that a faucet with a longer reach might help me. I had very little choices in nice looking faucets that had to stay under 8 inches high at the handle. The guys at lowcostplumbing.com recommended this one. I had my eye on a Blanco, but they and many people here said to get the Grohe. I love it. It works smoothly. It isn't the super artsy one that I wanted, but it still looks nice, is functional, and easy to clean. It also has a spring loaded pullout rather than a weighted one. It is very smooth.

I also measured, and I asked them to put the sink as far forward as possible. Mine is 3 1/4 inches away from the front.

Here's my faucet. Please ignore my paint job. Our old countertops where higher than our new granite.

Good pictures, Kristen. They illustrate that it isn't just reach - the horizontal distance between the faucet base and the faucet spout that matters. There is the angle that water comes out of the spout to consider. We have the Grohe LadyLux and water comes out at an angle similar yours. Not quite as much of an angle but it is starting higher with a bit more reach so the result is similar. One with the same reach where the water came straight down would be less convenient for someone with a short reach like me or dd70.

I'm 5' 1" with short reach and our LadyLux is installed in about the same spot as Kristen's. It works fine for me. It is 10 3/8" from the center of the base to the center of the spout.

Kristen-than you for the pics,they do help. A pull out like you have would probably work better for me vs. a pull down, that is a nice looking faucet.
cloudswift-I was also considering the ladylux and at the measurement you say it sounds perfect.
I think the Alira would be my last chance at a pull down due to the spray angle, I will have to call delta re the reach on it. if only i had 4" more on me, I'd even be able to reach the top shelf of my new cabs. Im in the market for a new stepladder next!

The Ladylux looks like my first faucet that I had...it was a Pegasus that my mother had bought. I loved the look and wanted to keep it. As I told you it was too high for the shutter, but I also had to consider the handle. I almost forgot to mention that it would have hit the shutter when I turned it to hot too.

I forgot to tell you the reach of my faucet. It is 10 1/2 from center of base to the center of the spray.

I just looked at the dimensions on the web page, and it say 9 and 5/8ths, so I measured. It's definitely 10 1/2.

I also felt the need for a long reach faucet. We purchased a Hansgrohe Allegro Gourmet with an 11 3/8" reach. We have approximately 3 1/4" of front edge and the sink bowl is 16" front to back. The faucet should be installed within the next two weeks and then I can let you know how we like it. The sink is a double bowl, the left bowl is 18" front to back. Deb

I love my Grohe Ladylux Plus (Grohe #33737). I am 5'3", and have short arms, even for someone my height (I always have to shorten sleeves, even when I shop in the Petites section). I like everything about the Grohe - not only ergonomically, but also the way the spray button works, the handle, the finish. If you decide to look at the Grohe Ladylux, just note that there is also a Grohe Ladylux Cafe, which is slightly different in appearance from the Ladylux Plus, and also the way the spray works. I myself did not like the Ladylux Cafe's looks or feel, but that's just MHO. Also note that the Ladylux Plus spray defaults back to regular flow when you turn off the water. The Ladylux Cafe stays on whatever is the last setting you left it, whether spray or regular flow.

Also, I believe your current faucet you don't like is a pull-down, right? The Grohe Ladylux is a pull-out, so has a different feel. I personally prefer the pull-out style, but I know there are fans of both camps. But I think the pull-out style will be better for you, given what you've not liked about your current faucet. Just my $.02.

(One the website I linked below, they're having some kind of sale with the price of the Ladylux Plus at $354, free shipping. I think that's pretty rock-bottom for this faucet.)

I have a Kohler Avatar, which is a pullout, and I hold it the way you hold a pulldown.

I don't twist my arm around to hold it. I just reach out and grab it, and pull.

I control the spray w/ the heel of my hand, and it's very effective.

Correction - In my message above, I meant to say $324 (not $354). I think $324 is a very good price for the Grohe Ladylux Plus.
