Thought wallpaper goes "in and out of fashion", if it's something you love then go for it. It's your home, don't let the designers tell you what works best for you.

If you're using it in an area that doesn't require constant cleaning, you're good to go BUT it is a kitchen and, at some point, dirt grabs on to surfaces so maybe you should try to find a paper that can be cleaned. After just removing 3 layers of wall paper off my bathroom wall, I'm inclined to say NO but I won't as I know wall paper can make a an area look soo much better than paint.

Higher end wallpaper will always be "in." Why don't you look and see if you can find one you absolutely love? If not, try the topper/paint route. Although if trends are a concern, I have seen fewer and fewer fabric valances and more and more natural material roller and roman shades in addition to the cellulars, which seem to be everywhere.

How about a painted wall stencil? I've seen some gorgeous ones that look like wallpaper, but you never have to bother stripping them when you want to change your decor.

I love wallpaper and have it my kitchen, bathrooms, dining room, three of five bedrooms and hallways. It is no more difficult to maintain than anything else, even in the kitchen, and I cook a LOT for my big family! The seams are all as tight and invisible as they were when I installed them, except in one bathroom where a couple of seams have separated a bit, but there have been an awful lot of teenager showers taken in there, and it has been up for 13 years!

Don't be afraid of wallpaper! It's great stuff! And, yes, I installed it myself.

If you properly prepare and size your walls, it will peel right off when you want it to. The vinyl-clad paper in my kitchen has been washed several times, and looks good as new after being on the walls for nine years.

I had wallpaper installed in our last house. The kitchen was the first area papered. After 13 years, the wallpaper was good as new. There are designs that are timeless.

My entry had a tone on tone textured strip that pulled the dining room, kitchen, and powder room papers together. It was a lot easier to maintain and wipe clean than paint.

My house was sold in one weekend. The new owners loved the wallpaper.

I wallpapered my kitchen/breakfast room 23 years ago when I had three boys under 5 running around with a large Lab. It still looks like new. It was not a designer or high end paper. It is a kitchen paper that actually has some kind of teflon coating on it. Nother and I mean nothing, can stain that paper. It it so easy to wash and it has never been torn or damaged in any way.

I think I would decide whether to paint or paper according to my thoughts on how I would decorate those two full walls if I used paint. I find that once you've added pattern to walls, it is a little harder to find pictures that work. Do you already have your wall decor?
