What would you do with this deck? pics

We want to rehab this 25 yr old deck. Its currently 20 ft x 40 ft. The framing is 4x10 "joists" on 4x4 columns. The 4x10s are spaced 24". The decking is doug fir, the supportinf structure is cedar. The 24" joist spacing severly limits replanking options. One idea is to tear off the doug fir, trim the columns to allow adding 2x10 joists on normal 16" ctrs, then plank with a composite or ???. Another guy wants to just put Trek OVER the old decking. That sounds nuts to me. A third guy wants to tear it all down and build a "standard" deck planked with Trek but I can't see just getting rid of the existing heavy cedar framing for expediency.

The location is N. Az; very dry, 4 seasons but very dry; elev 4500 ft. Isolated location limits selection to common lumberyard materials.
