It's Saturday, I don't generally do a lot on the weekends. Weekdays are my housework days. But I did return some DVDs, make the bed & go for a drive and take pictures for my blog. In a few minutes I will get on the treadmill, then make supper.

It sounds like you have accomplished quite a bit, Casey. I would get a lot more done but I have been having a lot of pain in my left knee, so a bit of a rest will help for awhile.

Completed the tax preparation for our tax man! I've found it's best to wait until near the deadline to get the first amended, second amended, *final* (I hope) amended forms.

(Would you beileve that we are still waiting to hear from the IRS about a check they lost from our 2008 return? Last letter from them was September 2008. Has anyone tried CALING the IRS? Hah!)

Done absolutely nothing except cook breakfast and watch Second Hand Lions. Oh I did walk around a long block.

DH and I spent most of the morning glued to the TV waiting to hear news about the shooting in Pittsburgh...We have too many friends on the police force and it really is a worry....But, now I've managed to do 5 loads of laundry, change the bed, clean the bathroom and bake 2 loaves of Amish Friendship bread...Now I'm headed for my sewing room which, after digging out the air mattress, will be turned back into a bedroom for a week. My DDIL and youngest grandson are coming from N. Carolina...DDIL has MS and sees a doctor in Pittsburgh every 6 month....I should be resting, I have a feeling DGS will have us running all week...But, I'll do my best in spoiling him......

One load of laundry, put the one in the dryer away. Paid a few bills/sending a check to my other bank account for our trip this summer and will mail them on our way to the movies. Picked up Lauren from her friend's house so she could shower after volunteering at the animal shelter. Just took her back over there, so she could hang out with her friends. They want to spend the night tonight, well, one of them does. Lauren normally stays over there on Friday nights so her friend's mom doesn't have to run by here on their way to the animal shelter the next morning and the friend stays here on Saturday night.

Getting ready to do a short workout and go shower and go to the movies. I want to go to the early show. I also haven't eaten lunch so I can have popcorn at the theater. Not supposed to eat it on my diet but my doctor told me I could cheat one day a week. (Been cheating more than that and still lost 12 pounds.)

I also managed to completely forget about Alex's ACT exam this morning. He did too. So, either I'll find out next Monday that I've just blown the fee or they will refund it to me. I couldn't find out any info on their website. He took it at school about 2 weeks ago and if I had known they were going to do that I wouldn't have bothered to pay for it that close to the last exam. I should've tried to cancel it when I found out about the other one, guess I need to pay better attention.

I drove to a town about 23 miles away to attend a quilt show which isn't going to happen until April 25. Duh. As a consolation prize, I stopped in Chico's on the way home and bought a really nifty jersey top. When I got home I got my tax returns ready to go in the mail next week. If I can get off this computer, I will probably go to 4 o'clock Mass.

I slept in, and then I did a few little things around the house. I went to a local greenhouse and picked up some seeds and a plant. Then I went to a birthday open house , that I brought the cake for. It was nice to visit with some of the people from work from other offices, who I don't get to see very often. Then I came home, walked the dogs and went into my own greenhouse for a bit Now I am working on dinner and listening to a podcast.

Took some dog and cat food to Houston to give to a lady who rescues feral cats and feeds wild raccoons. Went to a couple of yard sales and a plant sale. Came home and fed and cleaned possum cages. Fixed lunch. Friends came by and brought a pineapple upside down cake for my husband (his favorite) and an Easter gift for me...pajamas and a nightgown.

More work to do outside....got to get to it.

Slept in til 9:30,then after breakfast i vacuumed the whole house.Then went out in the backyard and sat in the sun for a few minutes,came in addressed a few b'day card and put them in the mail.

Probably won't do anything else today as these new meds are making my muscles,joints and bones hurt and my back right now is killing me.
Can't even cross stitch as my eyes are still watering.But this is just a bump in the road,and i'll get through it,do what i can,when i can,and not sweat the small stuff.

Took my 13 yr. old to her soccer game, came home and made lunch, did and folded laundry, put laundry away, made the beds, tidied up around the house, cleaned 2 of the bathrooms, cleaned the kitchen, vacuumed, mopped checked email. Will now bathe so I can take dd to her school's Spring Program so she can watch her friends act, sing and irish dance the night away. Her friend will then sleepover and the day will begin again!!

My plans today are to do nothing, and I don't plan on starting that until later.

Spent 4 hrs helping out with a fundraiser for my cousins Safe grad...went shopping with my older cousins,came back and taped the wood work in the dining room and living room in preparation for painting,ate supper and cleared things away.
Now I'm in my PJ's and going to curl up with my latest book!

Cleaning out Refrigerator. Yuck! Things have piled up. The dishes are soaking in the sink.

Note to self: Use disposable containers for leftovers.

I gave one of the dogs a good bath and trimming this morning, and then took him to the nursing home to visit my friend Carol who is in rehab following a heart attack. Reggie's a Golden Retriever and had wonderful fun making new friends with many of the residents. But he was a little too obsessed with the tennis balls on the legs of Carol's walker!

Good news is that Carol gets to go home next Friday!

Not much!
We went to a yard sale but didn't buy anything. Came home and visited with the neighbors across the street for about an hour.....that's it.
I am taking the day off.

I am tuning a harp I haven't played in 12 years. And so far I've broken 7 strings, and I don't have replacements for all of them. Try play with a missing E, G and A string :(

On the bright side, I went to the nursery today and found the most gorgeous yellow hybrid tea rose I've ever seen - Joshua Bradley. It's deep yellow on the inside and bright orange on the outside of the petal. It's absolutely brilliant.

The strings are dry and break when stretched back to pitch. Several notes will use the same string length, but tuned to different pitches.

Just didn't expect to break so many strings with the same length.

I got up earlier than usual...8 a.m. is early for me. :) Then the neighborhood guys had a fish fry at noon, and a girlfriend picked me up, we went to town & had a hamburger. Wore me out, so came home & took a nap. I just took a walk around the block with Ken and got my knee loosened up a bit more. I walk better without a cane because I concentrate so hard on placing the cane properly and almost trip myself. I have a moment every now and then where I think, "what in the heck have I done?" But then I remember the "before" pain and know I've done the right thing by getting the knee replaced.

DH and I went to the casino and he won $1000. That was about it!! I have my 8 y o Sweetie Pie here while her parents attend a BD party. She's going to spend the night, so we'll probably read a ton of books before we turn the lights off.

I did a load of clothes, also went to the seamstress to pick up a top she took in for me. Came home and played on the computer. Managed to spend a lot of money on an entertainment center. Funny how you can sit at home and go broke. lol

Made spaghetti for dinner. Made extra for the freezer for the guys while I am in Texas.

That's about it for me. Going to do nothing the rest of the night.

Oh gosh, Tally--I'd never play without my G-string!! LOL!

I got up around 8am today and started the first of two loads of laundry, plus washed DD's competiton gym leotard separately.

Then I started on her hair do for the meet today. Whew! That is an accomplishment! It's all about the hair, ya know. Did this tricky little spider-web thing that's become popular, then back in a ponytail, then the ponytail curled into spirals. Took about 15 tiny little clear elastics and a dozen little foam curlers, a handful of hair gel and a couple dozen squirts of hairspray. And over an hour of my time. ;o) That was extra special, usually I give it a really good ponytail, but very rarely go that extreme. I was feeling generous, and she asked so nicely. ;o)

Here's the idea. This was taken tonight, after the meet, after 1000 tugs on the ponytail and lots of tumbling loosened the curls (and it doesn't hold curls very well, either). Honest, it was tight curls. Next time I'll remember to take the pic before the meet.

While that set, and the laundry was drying, I cleaned out the van and went up for an oil change and the emmissions test. Then back home, made lunch for the family, showered and changed myself. Then we drove an hour to the gymnastics meet. Did that, had dinner, got back around 9pm

DD accomplished some good scores! She had a great meet and finishsed first place all around in her age group and session. That is a first for her, so it was very exciting. She has been struggling with bars for a couple months, but today also finished first on bars, another first.

And she's going to leave her hair like that for a couple days. ;o) Took me too long to take it back out already. I am not skilled with it, I have to compensate by taking my time and concentrating. I even tell her not to talk to me while I'm working on it, which is *really* hard for her. LOL! BTW, DD is 9.

Now I'm going to crawl into bed with a book. Tomorrow is another day, and I have other tasks that have been waiting all week. Like getting caught up on my online class.

It was a fun and productive day!

At 9:30am my DD and I drove to Laguna Beach (about 12 miles away) to have brunch with some dear friends we haven't seen in quite some time.

We left them at noon and headed home where my DH and I were hosting a retirement party for a long-time neighbor. I needed to do a thorough house cleaning, as thorough as I could in three hours at least.

At 4pm neighbors and friends started drifting in and the party started. Everything went great, lots of laughter, lots of good conversation. Things started winding down at 7:30pm and by 8pm the only people left were our next door neighbor, her DD and her 6 year old granddaughter.

I invited them to stay and watch this week's NetFlix DVD, Snow Dogs. So, 15 mins later another party, albeit much smaller, began. Out came more snacks and more drinks and more fun. And one happy little girl left an hour and a half later. Of course before she left, I shared with her my recent experience with real snow dogs at the Iditarod race in Alaska I attended two weeks ago.

Everyone is gone now, DH is asleep and I'm sitting here with tears running down my face, having just watched The Locator for the first time. I recorded it earlier after reading about it here.

So that's my day so far.
