why I don't have roses blooming
Comments (7)Oh Jean! I know what you are going thru here. I rarely catch the little B!&@#%$ in the act, but they are here more than ever before and the repellent spray just isn't stopping them anymore. I was blaming the fires for them being so bold and eating everything in sight, but now I'm thinking it's the vegetables that I planted in huge pots at the side of the garage that's attracting them in more. That's where they hit the worse. Time to toss them out and see if that will maybe lessen their visits. Next yr, I'm going to seriously work on a solution to these varmints. I plan to put up tall conduit post with holes drilled and I'll run heavy gauge wire thru them around the perimeter and hang reflective ribbons allover. Hopefully that will stop them from coming in to the yard. Then I might add a "Scarecrow" motion-detected sprinkler to a couple of spots in the yard too. But this season, I have too much going on to take the time now to get that all set up. It's very aggravating tho having to deal with these pests, isn't it??...See MoreCan HOA's still enforce rules on Bank owned?
Comments (4)I bought a how in a gated community and when I bought my house the hoa was about helping and curtsy between the nebors and the camping resort we have in our neborhood! Well we have new owners now and when they first bought to resort they let it go like not mowing letting the roads go the only thing they kept going was the guard shack and that was because the place was a campers dream and they charge people to come in and camp! Well ather everybody stopped wanting to pay dues cause the hoa was letting the neborhood go they started taking everybody's property and in liberty county in texas all the have to do is send you a letter that there foreclosing and they don't even have to go to court and since we didn't know the laws being silly country folks they took over three houses and atleast 300 lots do to fines and dues that people wouldn't pay! Well I've been paying mine building my case cause I might be country but I'm not stupid! They send me speeding tickets without having radar just because they say I'm speeding witch I'm not but in the end they are over me!! I also have evidence of them making false deeds on property that isn't there just steeling out right but they rule the roost so to speak!! I just don't know how to start cause once you start I've read that it will get worst and I don't want to loose my house in the process or end up going postal on them cause I work hard for the things I own and I just can't see my kids being homeless cause legislation made hoa's out to be god!! Please some one give me some advice!!...See MorePool fences and HOA's question.
Comments (12)This past summer came home to have dinner with the family before heading back out to a job I was finishing up. Had my 12' trailer hooked up to my truck. I was going to be home about an hour and then back out so rather then park in the street and cause my neighbors to look at the rig in the street I backed it into my driveway which it fit totally in. Well a hour later I go out to leave and my truck and trailer is gone. Come to find out that our HOA Pres two houses up had it towed away. Cost me over $600 to get it out so I could finish the job I was on. All my neighbors were pretty upset about this and voiced it at the next meeting. Come to find out if I had just left it in the street they could not have touched it, but because I wanted to be the courteous neighbor I get towed. Weird thing the HOA Pres has had his business fined three times by the state for different violations that were called into them....payback can stink......See MoreNo Fence Rules by HOA - need to beat this!
Comments (30)"You're not allowed to kill them or even bother them, yet they lie in wait killing pets and children constantly everywhere. No fences to keep them out of your yard seems pretty stupid to me....but that's how they like it I guess. Dead pets and children. Keeps things quiet I guess." I'm sorry to be brash but this is positively the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. Kids are not being killed constantly or infrequently or even rarely. And, pets are not being killed frequently either. If pets were being killed CONSTANTLY, I assure you the community grieving the loss of dozens of pets would have changed their rules on fencing. This concern is irrational. Gators are not like crocs. Most would rather avoid confrontation. And, the gators that get big enough to pose a risk are removed. Am I saying a small dog isn't at risk from a gator in the lake behind your home? No, but you can't let a small dog outside without risks anyway. You have eagles, osprey, otters, snakes, etc. that do their damage as well. All of these however are remote risks. In all my years in SW Florida I have never had one person I know lose a pet to ANY dangerous creature. As for the ADD dog, you could get an electric fence. And, like you, I'm not strong enough to run my German Shepherd but he runs on a treadmill every day and then gets supervised play time. In addition, a well-heeled structured walk would be very beneficial for any dog at any speed, even if your speed is slow like mine. I would check out Jeff Gellman for help with your ADD pooch... he does great free videos. Good luck and try not to stress so much. I understand the fear but I promise, it's not as terribly dangerous as it feels right now and you'll get used to the Florida creepy-crawlies in no time....See Moresnookums
