Hooray! I'll tune in.

Just read that the family has known he was safe for a few hours. Great news!!!

That's terrific news. I'll turn on tv for more details.

Thanks, I'll tune in. Good News for this man and his crew, but the pirates are still holding other captives. I pray those people can be rescues, then go after the pirates and get rid of them.

Hooray!

That's great news!!! Thanks for letting us know.

What a wonderful Easter this is for his family. I'm so glad he's safe. Those pirates are such bad bad guys.

How wonderful - and to happen on Easter.

i was so glad he rescued...

Score another victory for the wonderful, brave U.S. military! Best in the world.

Nice Easter gift for his family. I'm sure there were a lot of people in church this morning, praying for his safe return. The power of prayer!

The Navy Seals went in and got him. One pirate survived and he will likely face a life in jail.

I would certainly be relieved to hear the Seals were going to resuce one of my loved ones - they are amazing!

I agree Wanda. I agree. Best in the world.

It really irritated me when I read comments on another site berating the government for killing men on Easter Sunday. The prirates would have had no compunction doing that. Thank goodness he is safe.

thanks for sharing that information. I don't watch TV news and had not heard that.

When the CEO of Maersk told the Captain that he was to be interviewed on the media in a few minutes and asked him whether he had a message, he said that he's heard that they've been referring to him as a hero ... but that, in reality, he's a byline - the real heroes are the Navy guys who rescued him and made it possible for him to go home.

They say that his second jump into the water made it possible for the snipers to pick off his captors.

ole joyful

I'm happy he was rescued but I still think when they see pirates headed towards their ship they should just blow them out of the water. Let them swim home or become fish food. They have no respect for us...so why shoud we respect them.

What OJ said is true, but then what's the solution?

Here is a link that might be useful: Threats from pirates..

Sorry, I'll post on the other thread.

The reason they keep attacking ships is because most of them have been given ransom money. They've gotten millions from ship owners in the past with no consequences to them, why should they stop? Only us, France and one other country has even attempted to stop them.

I heard about the rescue at work yesterday, news report on one of the patient's tvs and my first thought was, "hope they killed the pirates". What worthless human beings. Now all some people will come out in defense of this "poor teenager" who was only trying to make a living, blah, blah, blah and try to get him off.

I have no sympathy for the pirates. Why? Because in these situations, I always put myself in the shoes of the VICTIM. I'm sure he and his family and friends don't give a #%& about the souls of those thugs. The one left should join them in Davy Jones' locker!!!!

It's time for the innocents to strike back.

I can't imagine ever feeling happy that another human being died, but I'm joyful to the extreme that the Capt. got out of this dreadful situation without apparent harm. I really expeced that he would meet a very sad ending, I'm so grateful that he and his family will be reunited.

It's a very unfortunate price the pirates had to pay for this, but one that will hopefully give 'cause for pause' as another plan is hatched.

I don't think there's a lot of question that there will be repercussions. There will likely be a loss of US life, but that doesn't negate IMO, that they did the right thing. I had been thinking this for days that they could/should do something like this. The pirate that's left? I think he should have been tossed overboard on the way back. Walk the plank, pirate! We did what we had to do and yes, we'll likely suffer for it in the future. But the sad fact is, we'd suffer far greater effects had we not done the right thing.

Ships going in that area know the dangers. If I were a member of the crew of that ship, you think I'd even consider going in that area unarmed? No way. They should be taking steps to provide their own protection too. A good business could be escort ships that sink pirate ships that come near them. I would think that companies would pay reasonable amounts for this type of security guards.

The other satisfaction is two-fold. First, that it shows that we will take action against those who do us or ours harm, and secondly that it's going to shut the mouths of a number of more local types of people (who shall remain nameless to avoid a "hot topic"), although I imagine those who agree with me and maybe a few others will know to whom I refer.
